Chapter 1
Functional Description
This feature provides concurrent CS AMR voice services and PS data services.
Concurrent PS data services may be interactive/background services or streaming
services. The data rate of PS services may be any rate of the above-mentioned
interactive/background services or streaming services. A CS AMR voice service can be
accompanied by up to three PS RABs.
To fully guarantee the QoS of CS AMR voice services, the DCH rate of PS services will be
reduced by means of the DRBC algorithm when a concurrent service is established. In the
concurrent period, if there are sufficient radio resources, the DCH rate of PS data services
can be gradually increased by means of the DRBC algorithm. The DRBC algorithm also
defines the DCH total upper limit rate of all PS interactive/background services of UE in
the concurrent period. For the DRBC algorithm, refer to the ZTE UMTS DRBC Algorithm
Feature Guide.

4.1 Test Purpose

The purpose of this test case is to verify the multi-RAB function of AMR Voice call + PS is
normal.

4.2 Steps for Test

1. UE1 activates a PS service in Cell1 and starts FTP downloading. Observe the DU
meter, until the DL rate reaches 384Kbps. The rate can be confirmed by checking the
message “RadioLinkReconfigurationPrepareFDDMsg”.

DL: TTI = 10, TB = (0, 1, 2, 4, 8, 12) × 336

DL rate = 12 × (336 - 16) / 10 = 384K

2. UE1 makes an AMR 12.2k voice call to UE2 or PSTN in Cell1.

The PS downloading rate reduces to 8k. It is the lowest rate level of DRBC

Feature Deployment and Testing Guide Feature ID: ZWF21-02-006

DL: TTI = 40, TB = (0, 1) × 336

DL rate = 1 × (336 - 16) / 40 = 8K
3. Keep the FTP downloading, we can see the internal signaling message
“ptSuciuMacMeasReport”. It is the Downlink traffic volume measurement report
sent by the user plane to report the 4A event (for more details, please refer to the
DRBC feature test guide: ZWF21-04-004 Dynamic Radio Bearer Control), and the
PS downloading rate increases step by step, until it reaches the 128k, which we’ve
configured in the parameter of “NRT PS Traffic Downlink Rate Upper Limit When
Low Rate C Traffic + PS Traffic”.

We can check “RadioLinkReconfigurationPrepareFDDMsg” after the

“ptSuciuMacMeasReport” message to confirm the current rate:

DL: DCH, TTI = 20, TB = (0, 1, 2, 4, 8) × 336

DL rate = 8 × (336 - 16) / 20 = 128K

4. Hand off the voice call, the user plane continues sending the message
“ptSuciuMacMeasReport” to report 4A event. It triggers the DL rate of UE1 increase
to 384Kbps from 128Kbps.

Chapter 4 Testing

DL: TTI = 10, TB = (0, 1, 2, 4, 8, 12) × 336

DL rate = 12 × (336 - 16) / 10 = 384K

5. Release all the services.

4.3 Expected Results

In the procedure of combination of AMR speech and packet data service, we could see
the DL rate of PS service is reduced to a lower level. When the voice call is released, the
DL rate of PS service increases to the highest level of DRBC.
