Course Title:ACCO99 – Internship Semester:___Summer _X_
No. of Units: 3 Academic Year: 2017-2018
Prerequisites: 80% completion of major courses No. of Hours: 54 hours

Part 1. COURSE DESCRIPTION

CHED Memorandum Circular No. 3, series of 2007
This is an applied academic experience conducted under joint faculty and employer supervision which
requires a minimum of one semester and will include a minimum of 160 contact hours. This may be in
the areas of accounting, external audit, internal audit, or tax. Internships are generally reserved for
graduating students or those who have already completed all or almost all of their major field courses
Rationale: The fields of practice for accountancy graduates require not just theoretical
knowledge but also the ability to apply the theories and concepts learned to
actual work situations. Internship aims to bridge gaps between what a student
learned in school to what he/she will encounter in an actual work environment.
Focus: The focus of the internship program is the reinforcement of technical
accounting knowledge by allowing students to learn by experience, and
likewise, to enhance other critical employability skills such as communication,
computer, office administration and interpersonal/behavioral skills.
Outcome: Students completing the course are expected to have been able to
apply/practice the principles or concepts learned to actual work situations,
demonstrate improved technical and personal skills as documented in the
Narrative Report to be submitted after the internship.
