A. CORE COMPETENCE
KI 3 : Understanding the knowledge (factual, conceptual, and
procedural) based on his curiosity about science, technology, art,
culture related phenomena and eye-catching events
KI 4 : Trying, processing, and serving in a concrete realm (using,
parsing, stringing, modifying, and making) and abstract realm
(writing, reading, computing, drawing and composing) as learned
in school and other sources in the same angle view / theory

B. BASIC COMPETENCE AND LEARNING INDICATORS

Basic Competence Indicators
3.5 Apply the classification principle 3.5.1 Identify plant-like protists
to classify protists based on the based on images
general characteristics of the 3.5.2 Describes the characteristics
class and its role in life through of plant-like protists by
careful and systematic image
observation. 4.5.1 Classify plant-like protists
4.5 Plan and perform observations on based on observations
the characteristics and role of
protists in life and present
observational results in the form
of models / charts / drawings.

C. LEARNING OBJECTIVES
1. Students are able to identify plant-like protists based on images
2. Students are able to explain the characteristics of plant-like protists by
image
3. Students are able to classify plant-like protists based on observations

D. LEARNING MATERIALS
 General characteristics of protists
 The characteristics of protists like animal (protozoa)
 The characteristics of protists like plant (algae)
 The characteristics of protists like fungi (slimy jam/stime mold)
 The role of protists in life

G. LEARNING STEPS
Activities Learning Description Time
Allocation
Preliminary Apperception,  Greeting Opener and Prayer 3 minutes
motivation and  Checking student attendance
purpose 1) Apperception
 Linking learning materials to be
done with the previous theme.
"After studying the bacteria, is
protista the same organism as
bacteria? "
 Ask questions that are
reminiscent of previous material.
"If not, try to recite the
characteristics of bacteria that
distinguish it from protists?”
2) Motivation
 Have you ever eaten gelatin?
 Do you know? From what order /
pudding was made?
3) Purpose
Teachers convey the purpose of
learning to be achieved after the
learning process.

Core Observe 1) The teacher displayed facts 15 minutes

about various plant-like protists
in the form of pictures / photos
on the slide and the students
looked at the picture. The
teacher asked, "What comes to
your mind after seeing the
picture? ".
Ask 2) Teachers ask students questions
to motivate students to ask
questions
 Do the living things in the
image have the same
characteristics?
 Do they share in common with
species in other kingdoms?
 How to distinguish species on
kingdom protists with other
kingdoms?
 What is the difference of each
species?
 How to classify each species?
Data collection 3) Data collection by making
observations on the preparations
that have been prepared teachers
Associate 4) Students conduct discussions
based on observations about the
characteristics and classification
of species observed
Communicate 5) Proof of results with teacher
explanation
Closing Conclusion and 1) The teacher asks one of the students 2 minutes
evaluation to conclude today's lesson.
2) The teacher delivers the upcoming
learning, and assigns the task to the
next meeting
3) The teacher asks the students to
pray

ANSWER SHEET

1. a. What is the species name of the image?

Answer: Sargassum sp.
b. Would you agree if the organism in the picture above is categorized
into kingdom plantae? (If not belonging to the class what is the
organism in the picture?) Give the reason.
Answer: Sargassum is Protista, a plant-like protista (algae). Sargassum is
a brown and multicellular algae that lives attached to rocks that will form
a root-like structure called holdfast. The body part resembles a stalk called
a stipe, and resembles a leaf called a blade. The blade is fitted with a float
so that the blade can remain near the surface of the water for
photosynthesis. The structure of algae is like a high-level plant but does
not have roots, stems, leaves that are true or are called talus.
