Lesson Plan

Unit 4: ‘Fancy seeing you again!’

Teacher: BITCAU ALINA


Class type: intermediate level pupils (8th grade)
Textbook: Snapshot Intermediate
Skills: Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening
Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to revise the future forms and to give/accept/refuse
invitations

Didactic strategies:
 methods and procedures: conversation, explanation, dialogues
 organization: class work, pair work, individual work, group work;
 materials and equipment: textbook, handouts, pictures

Lesson Aims:

1. to create interest in the topic


2. to raise expectations and involvement in commenting on the text;
3. to read and speak in order to confirm understanding of the text;
4. to study relevant structures for the topic;
5. to ask and answer questions about the text
6. to practice vocabulary about invitations

PROCEDURE

Warm-up Interaction: T-Ss; Ss-T Group work Timing:15’


Speaking

Aim 1: to introduce the topic “India”, by using the projects Ss. prepared for the class;

 T. asks the Ss. to start presenting the projects and what they found out about India

 Ss. show their projects and prove their knowledge of India’s civilization, culture,
traditions, customs
 T. tries to introduce the topic of descriptions, by making the Ss. listen carefully to the
new type of written text

Activity 1 Interaction: T-Ss; Ss-T Individual work Timing: 15’


Listening/ Reading

Aim 2 : to raise expectations and involvement in the listening and reading task;
Aim 3: to read and listen in order to notice the new type of written text;

 T. asks the Ss. to open Pupil’s Book at page 88;


 T. asks Ss. to listen to the cassette and follow the text by reading it

Activity 2 Interaction: T-Ss; Ss-T ; pair work Timing: 10’


Writing; Speaking

Aim 6: to practice vocabulary spoken and written;

 T. checks understanding by giving a handout with words and their definitions


(scrambled, mixed up)
 T. asks Ss. to find out the right definitions for each word
 T. checks the answers with the whole class and corrects the possible mistakes;

Activity 3 Interaction: individual work Timing: 10’


Writing/Speaking

Aim 4: to study relevant techniques for the topic;


Aim 5: to ask and answer questions about the text, about descriptions;
 T. gives each student a worksheet having some techniques for descriptions
 T. asks the Ss. to write the examples that they found in the text (the words or phrases)
for each technique used by the author
 T. checks the answers with the whole class by asking a student to complete the
worksheet
 T. asks the other Ss. to correct the mistakes if any;

Homework: The T. gives Ss. the handouts and asks them to read the poem and to complete a
similar worksheet for it, as they did in the class (Techniques for descriptions)
Assessment: T. appreciates the Ss. who were active during the entire lesson and gives advice
to the less active ones;
