EC9225A High Temperature

Acid Corrosion Inhibitor

Technifax TF–EC9225A

Laboratory Data
The corrosion rate data in the following tables was developed using coupons from N-80 pipe, coil
tubing, chrome 13 and chrome 2205 at various temperatures for 6 hours in 15%HCl, 28%HCl and
12%HCl/3%HF. The maximum allowable corrosion rate is 0.05lb/sq.ft per test period.

Testing Procedures
The above corrosion data was developed using industry approved NACE corrosion test cell
equipment and corrosion test autoclave equipment.

General sample preparation - The samples are prepared using a prescribed

concentration and type of acid solution, and prescribed concentration of EC9225A into a 100 ml
glass beaker. Depending upon the testing criteria, specified amount of an inhibitor aid may be
added to this mixture. The mixture will be swirled until it is thoroughly uniform. Then, a specified
metal coupon such as N-80, CT or chrome will be weighed and placed in this mixture. At this
point, depending upon temperature and pressure, either NACE cell or corrosion autoclave
equipment can be used. Corrosion rates are determined by weight loss of the metal coupons.
After the testing, the coupon will be cleaned and reweighed. The difference in coupon weight is
used to calculate the corrosion rate.

NACE corrosion test cell equipment -The NACE cell is a single cell pressure vessel
designed to test corrosion inhibitors at temperatures up to 300oF (149oC) and pressure from
ambient to 1000psi. The testing is done in duplicates to ensure a greater accuracy.

Corrosion test autoclave equipment - The high-pressure autoclave equipment was
used for conditions up to 400oF (204oC) temperature and 5000psi pressure. The equipment is
maintained and used per manufacturer’s recommendation.
