TIMELINE
In 2030 the Chinese government with assistance from the
European Union began construction on the first permanent
Lunar base. This forced the United States to quickly increase
spending in their space program to develop their own Lunar
base. The Chinese/EU base completed construction in 2035.
One month later the US completed theirs.
The bases expanded slightly over the next few years. Joint
scientific operations were conducted including long-term
living experiments. The results of these studies sparked the
creation of a joint operation between the US, Canada, China,
the EU, Japan, India, and the United Korean Republic to build a
full colony on Luna.
In the year 2058 the first Lunar colony was built. It was
filled with a team of scientists and their families from several
nations of Earth including those that were not invested in the
join operation. In 2060 the first Lunar baby was born. They
showed that humans were not bound to Earth; that we could
move out into space. This gave hope to the masses. Most
importantly, it gave hope to corporations. They could, for the
first time, operate with impunity outside the jurisdiction of
any governing body. Those that could, quickly established
colonies using the open knowledge gained by the first Luna
experiment.
2061 saw the re-birth of humanity through the break-
through of sustainable fusion power, thanks to the efforts of
Lunar scientists. The discovery was made possible partly due
to the abundance of He₃ available to use and experiment with.
Luna is the greatest source for He₃ in the solar system and the
primary fuel source for fusion reactors. Corporate mines were
then built as fast as they possibly could.
By 2075 ten separate corporate-owned colonies had been
built and staffed. At the same time experimental colonies on
Mars were established. The first Martian baby was born in
2076. By 2080, the number of Luna colonies numbered thir-
ty-four and the Mars had nineteen.
Mining operations were anywhere humans knew they could
get any element or compound of any remote value. From
asteroids to Jovian moons.
In 2085 Martian colonies began declaring independence
from Earth. In 2087 the first corporation, Centillion, declared Many smaller corporations exist and have colonies, but still
