Terminal Truck Fifth Wheel Cracks - SINOTRUK

Problem Description
Recently, while maintenance team performing the normal routine preventive maintenance on SINOTRUK
Terminal Trucks (TTs), it was noticed that there is a visual crack in the fifth wheel.

The cracks are severe and located in two different places:


 Lock jaw plate. (Figure 01)
 Fifth Wheel body. (Figure 02)

Immediate maintenance action


A complete visual survey on the fleet had carried out to inspect the fifth wheel cracks, resulting of 8 TTs were
found cracked.

Detailed inspection
After dismantling the cracked fifth wheels, a second check has been carried out on all wear items to confirm
wear limits against the fifth wheel OEM allowable limits (JOST).
