ASSIGNMENT FOR SUSTAINABLE CONSTRUCTION SBEC 3812/SBEQ 2852

SEMESTER I-SESSION 2018/2019- (30%)

You are to be divided into few groups consist of 3-4 person in each group.

Prepare a report based on CASE STUDY on the following issues on sustainability:

1. Environmental aspects of sustainability. 11. Waste management practices on site.

2. Social aspects of sustainability.
3. Economic aspects of sustainability.
4. Empirical studies in comparative assessment
tools in green buildings worldwide.
5. Design strategies on indoor environmental
quality on the aspect of thermal comfort-

6. Low carbon assessment tools in Malaysia.
7. Malaysia policies and strategies in achieving
green construction practices.
8. Design strategies on indoor environmental
quality on the aspect of air quality.
9. Resource of renewable energy in
sustainability

12. Energy efficiency in the context of green
artificial lighting.
13. Energy efficiency in the context of natural
daylighting designs.
14. Photovoltaic application in green buildings.
15. Design of green facades.
16. Green building material products.
17. Green thermal control materials.
18. Water efficiency in green buildings.
19. The concept of retrofitting in sustainable
construction.
20. Design strategies on indoor environmental
quality on the aspect of acoustic control.

You can use the following subheadings (where appropriate) as a guide and use your creativity to choose or add
the contents of the reports:

Please divide the work equally for each member of the group and the REPORT marks will be divided into two
categories as follows:
1) 70% - individual mark based on the topics that he/she is responsible.
2) 30% - overall marks for the group.
Structure of reports consists of:

Amended final report shall be submitted on Week 15- 20th December 2018 (Thursday) via e-learning.
Presentations shall be made using advanced multimedia presentation, posters and oral presentation.
Schedules of presentations will be produced by Week 2. 1st presentation will commence on Week 5.
