READING OF LT MOTOR POWER CIRCUIT

What is a Power Circuit ?

Power circuit of a LT motor comprises of Incoming switch , fuse, Main contactor, BMR
and CT (for current measurement).

Information in Power Circuit:

1. Power circuit of any LT motor has details and sequence in which various control
and protection components are connected.

2. Details of sliding contacts

3. Terminal arrangement for various Interlocks and Indications.

Power circuit drawing of a LT motor is vertically divided into 3-4 column showing
power circuit and terminal arrangements.

READING OF LT MOTOR CONTROL CIRCUIT:

Control circuit of any LT motor shows various Start/Stop and how does a motor started
fulfilling various starting Interlocking condition. Control circuit also shows various Aux.
Contactor used for picking up Main contactor and for indication purpose.

1. All Starts of motor are connected in parallel i.e motor can be started from any
one of them.

2. All Stops of motor are connected in series so that motor can be stopped from any
one of them.

3. Motor can be started/ stopped from Local or Remote. Also motor can be started in
auto from any limit switch interlock.

4. Control circuit of LT motor is divided vertically in 9/10 columns. These column

are used for reference purpose. Cross references are given at each contacts.

READING OF LT MOTOR INTERCONNECTION DIAGRAM

WHAT IS INTER CONNECTION DIAGRAM ?

Interconnection diagram is prepared for individual motor. It indicates following details.

1. Details of power, control and aux. Supply cable for motor with their size and tag
nos.

2. Details of switch board, control panel and field equipment with their termination.

It gives interconnection details of equipment with switch board through cables.

WHY AN INTERCONNECTION DIAGRAM ?

1. Interconnection diagram of an equipment motor is prepared for ease of

termination during commissioning.

2. It minimizes chances of mistake which can be done due to wrong cable

termination etc.

3. It at a glance indicates all the requirement of cables for a particular

equipment/motor.

4. It also helps in fault finding during problems.

5. It can be helpful for isolation of an equipment/motor completely.

READING OF HT MOTOR POWR CIRCUIT:

Power circuit of a HT motor comprises of circuit breaker, protection relays and metering
devices.

Information in Power circuit:

1. Power circuit has details and sequence in which control gear items are connected.

2. Details of metering and protection equipment’s

3. Terminal nos of main and aux. Switch gear equipment for motor use.

All the drawings are generally divided vertically in 5/6 columns. These columns are used
for reference purpose. Cross reference are given at each equipment and contact.

READING OF HT MOTOR CONTROL CIRCUIT:

Control circuit of HT motor comprises

1. Interlock circuit – Showing various start impulse for motor starting

2. Closing circuit – Showing various conditions to be met for circuit breaker
closing.
3. Tripping circuit - Showing various stop impulse for circuit breaker/ motor
stopping.
4. Annunciation circuit - for various fault alarms.
5. Indication circuit - for various indication at switch gear panel as well as at
remote.

All the drawings are generally divided into various vertical coloums. These coloums are
