EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY 2

NARRATIVE REPORT

In educational technology 2 we have discussed the twelve chapters which has

different topics that is related in enhancing technology in education and integrating the
different sources we have learned.

Teachers and students in the digital age is the title of the first chapter. This
chapter talks about the transformation of teaching and learning from the past years to
the present century. Where teaching and learning is a journey of education that we
treasure most. It is not only the matter or what to teach that is important, but the manner
of delivery or the how to teach plays a very important role in today’s teaching and
learning environment. Also, it is not only the matter or what was learned that is
significant, but the quality or the authenticity where students become life-ready.
Teachers and students in the digital age explore The Promising Teacher of the 21st
Century. We have an activity aims to establish the educational practices of teachers in
today’s century. We visited a class of the same specialization/major then; we observed
the teaching methods and strategies being practiced in class and fill out the table we
made. Next is the chapter 2 which is all about technology in teaching and learning,
where this chapter introduces the standards that administrators, teachers, and students
should observe in the used and integration of technology in education. This chapter also
explains how one entity of Tech-pack is connected and interfaced with the other entities.
I’ve learned also how the Tech-PACK process works in integrating technology in
education. The third chapter is all about digital technology and medical literacy which
enable us to understand digital media and other technologies that support teaching and
learning. This chapter also contains how its impact and applications will define the
purpose of the digital tools that help teaching and learning is at par with other
institutions in the 21st century. Chapter 4 is all about the ICT and the computers: its
roles and history. This chapter is focuses and deeply deals with the roles and function of
ICT and computer also the impact they brought to education over time. This chapter
also tend to give us meaning that ICT’s are basically information-handling tools; a varied
set of good, application and services that are used to produce, store, process,
distributed and exchange information. It also include that computers are considered part
of ICT. Even old technologies are considered part of ICT. Software for educators and
students is the fifth chapter, which tackle the details on the system and application
software which help administrators, teacher, and students electronically meet the ends
of their products. This chapter further introduces the different application software that
allows students and teachers to enhance their skills in producing creative outputs such
as reports, presentation, record keeping, and many others. Instructional software for
classroom use is the topic of the sixth chapter. This focuses on instructional software
which gives us knowledge on selection, benefits, limitations, and problems of the
recognized software. The purposes and benefits of other software support tools which
are helpful in producing specific outputs such creation of brochures, certificates, tests,
presentations, web pages and the like are also discussed in this chapter.

Educational technology and software evaluation are essential in the process of

technology integration in education. The purposes and processes of evaluating software
and educational technology are discussed in this chapter. This chapter 7, evaluating
educational technology, gave us knowledge and ability in evaluating such tool to make
teaching, assessing, and learning more effective and functional at the end of the lesson.
In legal and ethical use of technology chapter 8, taught us on the proper and ethical use
of software and other school technologies. Wherein, technology and software issues are
also elaborated in order for us to be aware. It also guide us in doing the right thing and
avoiding the unacceptable acts that may lead us to committing mistakes or possible
software and technology crimes that are against the law. The chapter 9 tackles about
alternative delivery system, which deeply deals with the delivery system where teaching
and learning, may take place. The reporter also discussed the different alternative
delivery systems that are helpful for learners who cannot come physically in school but
are eager to learn. In this chapter also the reporter give the advantages and
disadvantages of using some of the alternative delivery systems that can be used in our
way of learning. It also assessed whether these alternative delivery systems are
effective as the formal education where students meet their teachers in person at the
four walls of the classroom. Our instructor, also give us task by pair to select one
alternative delivery system and search a video that shows how it integrated in
education. It presented to the class, and shared how it is useful to the teaching and
learning process in the 21st century education. The chapter 10 deeply deals the
components of the internet and the World Wide Web which includes the protocols,
internet access provider, connecting to the internet, and concepts related to the World
Wide Web. In this chapter the teacher and the students benefits by gaining more
knowledge how internet important and necessary to the education in today’s generation.
The second to the last chapter is all about roles of the internet and the World Wide Web
in education. It focuses with the different roles internet play in education. Wherein, we
learned that the internet changed education significantly, especially on how the
teachers, students and parents communicate with each other. It lead us how to find
good resources to be used in the classroom and how to use the internet to create and
develop learning materials and activities. The last chapter tackle all about web tools and
resources, which deals with the different web tools and resources used in the
classroom. This chapter provides background of the evolution of the web from web 1.0
to web 5.0. Then, the reporter also shared that web 1.0 as read only web, web 2.0 as a
read-write web, 3.0 as a semantic web, web 4.0 as a mobile web and web 5.0 as the
emotional web.

In educational technology 2 we are not just focusing on the content of the book
but we also integrated what we’ve learned through hands-on. Our first laboratory activity
is we used the wonder share application which shows the evolution of ICT tools. Then,
we utilized Microsoft excel in making item analysis. In this laboratory activity we learned
different formulas on how to find the difficulty index and discrimination index. Our next
laboratory activity is making a report presentation through prezi, wherein we learned
how to design our report to make it more attractive and interesting to the learners. The
last laboratory we had is making an online quiz through the quiz creator apps, wherein
we learned how to make questionnaires and also we gained knowledge that this kind of
questionnaire can be utilized in the classroom to make the learners more interactive and
they can easily engaged what they want to learn.
