Dates , Locations
& Times
In terms of duration our music video will last for three minutes maximum in duration.
And  filming will commence in November after half term.
Locations that will be used within the production of our music video will be places that express isolation and
loneliness within society and how the loss of a relationship can effect ones mental health , eg places such as
Cliveden house and areas that provide low key lighting in order to express his dark feelings these will be
portrayed by the use of low angle shots , close up shots and establishing shots in order to show how he is
surrounded by objects and not social interaction. Other areas that we may include within our music video would
be Marlow bridge and  the Model village in Beaconsfield . This will create a cool transition such as going from
a small village to an actual video setting on the bridge.
Conventions
L
PRACTICALITIES

The use of drugs and smoking will be used in a location where there isn’t anybody there or in a place where people wouldn’t mind. rolled up paper will be used to show the smoking and a
close-up shot of tablets such as paracetamol will be used to show the drugs in terms of the tablets used they will just be placebo’s or simply paracetamol. We will not be using hypodermic
needles as that won't be safe so we will be using a syringe but there won't be a shot of any of the characters taking it as drugs. E-cigarettes will only be used in such a way so that the
shots show off the character taking it. A close-up shot of the tablets will be used to show the cover and then a shot of the character taking them.

When we are filming in public possibly towns we won’t be showing any signs of having rolled up paper or tablets as that can seem dodgy and could end up with me getting into trouble.
so in town, if we potentially film there we should be normal people and not behaving like hooligans.

If we are filming in any sort of national trust such as Cliveden. we should also ask permission to film there. If so then it should be mainly for establishing shots as with us doing the
proper filming, people would get uncomfortable especially with the use of smoking and drugs being used in terms of smoking we will implement e-cigarettes as it has fewer health effects
than actual cigarettes. Violence would be used very little but the use of weapons such as dummy guns won’t be used as it’s illegal.

The use of e-cigarettes and painkillers would be used in our music video in order to make it as realistic as possible. this would be used in places where it is ‘acceptable’ to do these type of
activities.
Moving from Maidenhead to Beaconsfield would be different as we are moving to a larger area where there is more chance of better filming locations. We would only be able to film
during weekends as during school time it would be very difficult as it is far away from the location.  This means that filming time would only be limited to 2 days a week max. This would
be an advantage because there will be more time to film with less pressure due to the fact it is not in school hours.
CHARACTER NAMES AND MOTIVATION

The aim for this music videos is to motivate the audience to those that might be experiencing relationship breakdowns or in general have
failed to meet a particular target. This is done as strong ‘motivation’ to them in order to overcome a difficult part of their lives. This is
primarily aimed at teenagers who are going are becoming an adult (sixth form/college students).

For the character names, we will be using our real names instead of made up ones as that will be much easier instead of thinking
made up ones. There will also be one person who will be Post Malone and will do the main singing. The other two characters would be
in some sort of relationship or friendship but had gone ‘sour’. Character 1 will be the one overcoming the problems as he will be taking
drugs and smoking, whilst character 2 would be the one who would end things altogether.

SETTINGS
Within our music video the setting is around the
relationship issues and the dramatic effect it has on ones
mental health after a relationship has ended , eg the
dependance on the use of alcohol and drugs in order to
help one forget the feeling of loneliness as love is one of
the biggest commitments and considers time commitment
and effort however one that is all gone the persons norms
are no longer there as they have have lost the firm bond
within their relationship.

Which can be one of the causes for mental health and

depression , Therefore in the ending of our music video we
are going to implement some shots of the man seeking help
from an online service for mental health / coping with
breakdown issues in order to show how we have dealt with
sensitivity
MOOD

The mood anticipates love and breakup in our music video.

In general the music video remake at first would have a very low and unhappy mood at the start
as character 1 would be the one who ‘fails’ and character 2 would be the one who ‘ends things’.
However, as the music video progresses there will be a change of events when character 1 makes
up by doing something to make up to character 2. Towards the end, the music video will be left at
a cliff hanger as we would wonder whether character 2 would want to make up to character 1.
The music video would be a linear based narrative so the audience would be able to understand on
how the mood changes.
CAMERA SHOTS
Within our music video we will be using an alternative range of shots in order
to portray different moods and representation to reinforce the characters
feelings throughout
the music video.

Continuing on the use of establishing shots will allow the audience to establish
where the music video is taking place and what is situated around the area of
filming in order for the audience to connect lyrics to a visual image.

Furthermore, Low angle shots will be used to show how the subject is powerful
and dominant eg we would place the alcohol and drugs on a shelf with the
character reaching up implying as if he reaches out to alcohol to feel normal.
And high angle shots to show weakness and submissiveness to the alcohol.

Moving on, Two-shots will be used in order to show other characters within
our music video eg the partner of the relationship that they used to be in and
the happy relationship she is now in or we could contrast happy times of the
relationship to now. Showing how times and feelings have changed for one
partner but as for the main character playing Post Malone portrays how
feelings haven't changed for that particular person

CAMERA MOVEMENTS AND LIGHTING
Low key lighting will be used  along with low angle shots to express his isolation
and dark thoughts and feelings which lead up to his dependency on alcohol and
drugs, close up shots and establishing shots in order to show how he is surrounded by
materialistic objects and not social interaction further reinforcing his isolation away
from social contact now his relationship has come to an end.

Within our production we are going to use conventional camera movements used within rap
music videos such as , Pans when establishing the setting / place and panning tracking shots
in order to highlight key elements within our film. We will also implement a series of cuts /
quick cuts throughout our music video to create different meanings but to also allow for a
liner-narrative to take place whilst relating to the story of how broken relationships can cause
mental health through alcohol abuse and drug abuse.

AUDIENCE
In terms of target audience, from concluded results we have found that;

Rap and  Pop are the most popular music genres listened to in the age range of 16-18 year olds due to the alternative styles used throughout the music videos
conveying a wide range of social problems such as (Sexual discrimination , Black Lives Matter , relationships and equality concerning genders) that are
conveyed through both genres either through visual representation or lyrical representation in order to create meaning. Therefore we have chosen to focus our
music video on the Rap genre whilst implementing themes of social issues such as relationship issues. As the lyrical representation is more relatable to
relationship issues.
Furthermore, in terms of equality within our survey 57.1% of results were from male genders and 42.9% were from female genders suggesting that some
results may be biased due to individual differences and different preferences when concerning music genres. Also from results concluded we have chosen to
base our music video along a narrative route due to over 57.1% of survey participants answering that music videos should illustrate the songs true meaning,
which reinforces or option to choose a narrative base music video showing Post Malone’s  grief after his girlfriend has left him highlighting relationships
issues and the effect it can have on one's mental health.
In conclusion, our target audience will be in the range of 16+ due to our survey results. However, it can also hit wider demographics as the social issues
conveyed within could relate more to some people than others concerning if they have ever been in a relationship or if they have ever felt the same way after a
breakup.
