Authentic Life Coaching 30 Questions Workbook

Introduction
WELCOME and THANK YOU for downloading my Authentic Life Coaching 30
Questions Workbook in order to improve your life!

I’m Lisa Cherry Beaumont and I’m a Life Purpose Coach working with people
just like you who want to make a change.

Coaching works on the premise that YOU have all your own answers inside of
you, and it’s the job of a coach to get them out of you.

This workbook is not a replacement for counseling or therapy. If you’re feeling

depressed or anxious, please do seek out a mental health professional.

This workbook will guide you through 30 questions to help you identify
specifically what you want to change about your life, set a goal for yourself,
and create steps to get you there.

Some of the questions may seem repetitive but that’s for good reason, to help
you really dig deep, so just go with it.

And some of the questions may seem irrelevant to you so, although it’s better
to answer all of the questions if you can, if something really doesn’t make
sense to you, it’s OK to skip it and move on to the next.

There are no right or wrong answers, but I have offered examples here and
there to help you understand some of the questions.

You can print this workbook and use it to write in your answers. Or you can
write your answers separately on a different document.

The best part is you can use this workbook again and again for different areas
of your life.

OK, ready to make a change? Let’s go!

TOPIC

1. Write down an area of your life in which you’d like to make a

change. So, if I could wave a magic wand and transform any area of
your life, what area would it be? Is it your career or job? Your
relationships? Your health? Are you trying to get fitter or slimmer? Do
you just need to get out and socialise more? Is it about money or
holidays or your children? If there’s more than one, write them all down.

Example: Friendships and Travel

2. Choose the one that you want to work on today. If you’re not sure,
go with your gut feeling.

Example: Friendships

GOAL

3. Write down an issue in this area of your life that matters to you to
find a way forward. Something you have control over. Something
you’re not sure how to approach, maybe you feel a bit stuck around
something, maybe it’s a nagging thing that you’d like to put to bed. If it’s
a HUGE issue, write down a component of it you can work on.

Example: I have nothing in common with my current group of friends.

4. Write it down in a sentence: “The issue I want to think about

is…” So you’re clear about what the issue is that you’re working on.

Example: My issue I want to think about is my friends and I want to find

some like-minded friends.

5. Rewrite that sentence to make it as specific as you can. Make it

personal and positive. And make it really specific to you. Write down a
goal for yourself in this area. What is it that you’re working on? What is it
that you’re trying to achieve?

Example: I want a group of three like-minded friends that are interested

in yoga and meditation, and with whom I meet up once a week.

6. What will be happening that will tell you when this issue is
resolved? Let’s get some clarity on this by going forward in time to
when this issue is resolved, it’s been sorted, it’s scoring 10/10 on the
satisfaction scale. Write down as much detail as you can about what will
be going on when you have resolved this issue. How will you know when
you get there?
• Write down as much of the detail as possible.

• What would you be doing?

• Where might you be going?

• How might you be feeling?

• What would other people be doing?

• Is there a figure or a number you can put on it?

Example: I will have three new friends that I meet up with once a
week.

7. When is it realistic to be at that 10/10 slot? If you’re thinking a

couple of years, you may need to smaller chunk it a bit. 3-6 months is
ideal, shorter is fine.

8. Rewrite your goal in the present tense into an outcome

statement with a date on it.

Example: It’s the 15th July and I have a group of three like-minded
friends that I meet up with once a week.

REALITY

9. What tells you that this is an issue for you at the moment? And
why particularly now?

10. What is the impact on you and others?

11. What’s missing in this area of your life that you want? Refer
back to your 10/10 statements to be prompted. Can you list or describe
those key things that are missing?

12. What’s good that you want to keep? What’s good in your situation
that you definitely want to keep, because that’s contributing already
toward your goal? What are you doing right? What are you doing that’s
good?

Authentic Life Coaching 30 Questions Workbook

13. What have you already tried to improve the situation?

14. Of those things you tried:

• which bits were successful? If it was successful to begin with but
then it broke down, what was it that contributed to the initial
success, even if it was only temporary?

• what was the point at which it stopped? If you tried it for a while
and then stopped, what was the point at which it stopped? When it
stopped working for you, what was all that about? What happened?

15. What does that tell you? If you’re looking for a learning that
emerged from that, from things that you’ve tried, what’s that telling you
about yourself, about the process, about your actions?

16. What might be some of the obstacles, barriers, that might get in
the way of your goal? Is there one major obstacle or lots of little
things? What are they? Think about things you’ve already tried, what’s
that telling you about potential obstacles? Which of these have you tried
to negotiate in the past – how successful have you been? If your issue is
about time management and you’ve found time to go to the gym but not
for something else, how did you manage to find time for the gym? What
did you do there to negotiate some of these barriers?

OPTIONS

You’re now you’re in a position to think about how you can move forward
on this. You’re going to think about some options, and options are things
that you could do, not necessarily things that you will do.

17. Make a list of things that you could do that would move you
closer towards your goal. Don’t be self-critical, don’t edit the list, just
let some ideas flow. Think back to what great looks like, 10/10, what
does that say that you could do? Think about the learnings from things
you’ve already tried – what does that prompt you into thinking you could
do?

• If you actually believed in yourself – fully – what could you

do?

• If you devoted yourself just to this issue what could you do?

• If your resources were unlimited what could you do?

• If you weren’t scared of anything what could you do?

Authentic Life Coaching 30 Questions Workbook

• If others gave you space what could you do?

• If you didn’t have to live with the consequences, what could

you do?

• If you knew you couldn’t fail, what could you do?

• If you went to your boss or guru or a friend or your mum, what

would they say you could do?

• Think about the ideas that you put into practice in the past that
went wrong. What could you do there that might have made a
difference?

• Look at your list, read it through, is there an idea that’s linked

to that?

• And what else? When you think you’ve exhausted it and you had
to write down another couple, what would they be?

Authentic Life Coaching 30 Questions Workbook

Look back at your goal that you wrote in question 8, and make sure that
the options you’ve written above would take you closer toward your goal.
Sometimes when we start looking at options we generate lots of good
ideas but they don’t necessarily take us any closer to our goal. Cross off
any that are not aligned to your goal.

WAY FORWARD

18. Look at your list and identify which are the most appropriate
ones. Which are going to give you the best value, and are the ones you
need to be doing? Often it works on the 80/20 rule that there are 20% of
the actions that are going to give you 80% of the benefit. Which are
those?

19. Look at your list above and pick out the one or two ideas that
you’re going to develop.

Authentic Life Coaching 30 Questions Workbook

20. What specifically do you need to do in order to bring about

those ideas? What are the actions, all the little things that you need to
do to bring about that option? What are the specifics, what are the
“hows” you need to think about? If it seems quite big, what are the
components? How can you split it down into small, manageable, bit-
sized chunks? It doesn’t matter if they seem like silly things on a list, I’ve
got to make some phone calls, I’ve got to make some time in my diary –
write it down, the little things that you need to do.

Authentic Life Coaching 30 Questions Workbook

21. Keep in mind your barriers; what actions will you need to make
sure you negotiate those barriers? Anything that’s going to stop you,
you need to think about what that is, and then some simple steps around
it. What actions will you take to make sure your barriers don’t get in the
way and don’t prevent you going forward? What’s going to stop you,
when you stand up and think yeah I’ll do those things and then fall at the
first hurdle; what is that first hurdle? And what are things that you will
need to do to make sure you don’t fall at the first hurdle? Be truthful with
yourself and think of a way forward.

22. Does anyone else need to be involved, do you need to talk to

them, and what do you need to tell them?

23. On these specific actions that you’ve pick out, when’s a realistic
time to complete them?

Authentic Life Coaching 30 Questions Workbook

24. Project yourself forward to a time when you’ve taken these

actions. Imagine yourself in that position.
• What will be the benefits to you?

• What will you be saying to yourself?

• What will others be saying?

• What will you be thinking or feeling?

• What will you look like?

• Where will you be going?

• What will you be saying and what will that feel like?

Authentic Life Coaching 30 Questions Workbook

25. On a scale of 0 – 10, how strong is your intention to carry out

these actions? If 0 is I just won’t bother and 10 is yep, that’s something
I’m committed to doing, I can see the benefits, I know the way forward,
and that’s what I’m going to do. You need to write down a number.

26. If it’s not an 8, 9, 10, what would make it a 10?

NAIL DOWN

27. Put these actions into your diary or calendar STRAIGHT AWAY!
And be realistic with yourself about when you can get started.

28. The end goal that you wrote in question 8, copy it into your
diary or calendar on the date you identified in question 8. If you
don’t keep a diary or calendar, write it on a note and stick it on your
mirror or your computer.

29. The person/people you identified in question 22 that you need

to talk to, have that conversation with them.

30. In between now and the date of your end goal, if you wish to
talk about any aspect of your goal, your actions, or this exercise,
drop me a message over at lisacherrybeaumont.com
