1 Background
The term Service Bulletin (SB) refers to a series of documents having a specific aim or
scope. The purpose of a SB is to provide the End Customer, the Owners, the
Operators, Wärtsilä Services Offices and / or all internal concerned colleagues /
departments with updated and new information on products and services.
The process owner for SB according to the service quality manual is Technical Service.
The practice described in this document represents a global Wärtsilä approach.

The Wärtsilä Service Bulletin principles will be explained with help of the layout
elements of the bulletin pages.

4 Distribution level
There are 3 distribution levels for Wärtsilä Service Bulletins:
• Service Bulletins meant for operators and owners of engines. These Service
Bulletins have no special marks and are actively distributed to the relevant operators
and owners of engines.
• Service Bulletins meant for the Wärtsilä service network. These Service Bulletins
have a red box (see Figure 3, Position 4) on each page and should not be in the
possession of operators and owners of engines. The service network will be aware
of the publication of such a bulletin by means of Service Bulletins notifications.
Service Bulletins notifications are generated by Bulletins Intranet upon publication of
a new Service Bulletin, but also for the release of a new issue of a Service Bulletin.
• Restricted Service Bulletin, meant for a selected group of users.
