The hilsea lines is a valuable nature area and has developed on a site that was originally a military base. The first defences were built in 1544 and
protected the city and the port of Portsmouth from inland attack for 300 years, before the existing lines replaced them in 1871 when the renewed
threat of a French invasion prompted the construction of stronger defences. Exisiting Problems

This two mile long structure of chalk and earth ramparts 9m high and 20 m wide , consists of six bastions of bombproof casemates and a moat to Natural Daylight Varied Levels

Imaginative sketches of areas
I am designing a ww1 exhibition centre for 13-18 years of age . I aim to create a building in which it will be informative yet

CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT
I am interested in using the geometry and feeling of a trench to create an experience in the museum . The main concept of my building is using lighting,
restricted space and the angular structure of the trench to create the artistic installation in the centre of the Bastion 6 building.

Soldiers in a WW1 trench Jane, Georgette, Olatundun and Emily.)

feel sick/uneasy
Timber planks- I like the aesthetic look
of timber planks and can really visualise
this working with my design
The final model focuses on the artistic installation in the building showing the purity of the white colour
and harshness of the black colour on the walls of the artistic installation in contrast to the colour and structural hierachy
of the Bastion 6 building
