Welcome to our quarterly newsletter for Ansys shareholders and analysts. This is a new initiative
designed to keep you fully informed about the latest developments in our business and in the
sectors in which we operate.
A milestone year
This year is a milestone year for us, as we are celebrating 30 years of being in business and 10 years
of being listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE). Since first opening our doors, we have
steadily been building our portfolio of technology businesses in the rail, mining, industrial, defence,
information security and telecommunications sectors, both locally and internationally. Today, Ansys
is a multi-million-rand group, so it is perhaps fair to say that it is one of South Africa’s best-kept
business secrets.
The annual Premier’s Service Excellence Awards programme, held under the auspices of the Gauteng
provincial government, recognises individuals, companies and institutions that have made a
significant contribution to socio-economic transformation in the province during the preceding year.
The Premier’s Special Award is the programme’s top award and is made at the sole discretion of the
Premier, David Makhura, and the province’s Executive Council.
This will also be an opportunity to meet Andrew Matseke, who became the new Managing Director
of Tedaka Network Solutions on 1 April, as well as other new members of the team that you may not
already have met. Andrew joined us from Transnet Rail, where he was the Executive Manager of

Telecommunications for four years. Prior to that, he was the Managing Director of Powertech TIS, a
distributor of Commscope products. With a BSc in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from the
University of Cape Town, Andrew has over 20 years of experience in the telecommunications and
electrical industries, and is a much-respected addition to our team.
The first annual Ansys/SDC Learnership Programme, which is being operated in conjunction with the
Media, Information and Communication Technology Sector Education and Training Authority (the
MICT Seta), kicked off in July 2016 and will end in June of this year. It has provided 50 unemployed
young people, the majority of whom are black and 80% of whom are disabled, with a valuable
opportunity to complete the NQF-level qualification in Technical Support.
The programme is divided into two six-month segments, the first of which is focused on practical,
hands-on learning facilitated by the SDC. For the course of the second segment, participants are
placed in companies or government departments, giving them the opportunity to develop their
skills, acquire new ones and obtain real-world working experience. When they graduate, they will
receive a registered national qualification, which will enable them to launch productive working
careers or to register for an additional Ansys-sponsored learnership programme.
Conclusion
In closing, I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of you for your invaluable support over
the years that we have been in business. It is a privilege to work with you and we look forward to
keeping you updated on developments within the group as they take place.
End.
