270712018 Control Valve Instrument Specialist - Job Details ‘hare, Control Valve Instrument Specialist 84696BR Job Description Shell Canada is seeking outstanding candidates to fil a Control Valve Instrument Specialists position at our Scotford Manufacturing Site in Fort Saskatchewan. Reporting to the Specialist Supervisor, the Control Valve Specialist ensures the safe, reliable operation of Control Valves at the Shell Scotford Site. This role will provide leadership for the Control Valve theme, driving business value through proactive problem solving, assurance and long-term thinking Accountabilities: ‘+ Subject matter expert for the control valve portfolio on the Scotford site. ‘+ Provide technical assurance and guidance for the design, specification and installation of control valves and associated hardware. ‘+ Implement successful practices to improve control valve reliability and minimize life cycle costs. ‘+ Work with vendors to improve support and reliability of site control valves. ‘* Develop and ensure control valve policies and practices are followed on site. + Leads the testing of new valve technology, and advises on selection of appropriate control valve hardware for severe service applications. ‘= Review control valve obsolescence concerns and develop replacement alternatives. Input into the Site Asset Master Plan for future funding and obsolescence resolution, ‘+ Provide technical guidance, assurance, and review of plant changes and Capital projects, * Validate and assure Turnaround scope collection and submission. Provide support for turnaround execution and valve shop coordination. ‘+ Review/Audit Control valve maintenance work processes and procedures. Requirements Skills & Requirements’ + Professional qualifications: Eligible for Professional status from APEGGA as a P.Eng. or P.L.(Eng) + Atleast 8+ years relevant petro-chemical industrial experience (or equivalent) covering all aspects of design and engineering in the instrumentation discipline; preferably in a refinery/upgrader or large industrial facility ‘+ Deep technical expertise in control valve design, selection, maintenance and troubleshooting, ‘+ Working knowledge of SIS (Safety Instrumented Systems), Analyzer Measurement, Flow Metering, Base Layer control, foundation fieldbus, and DCS / PLC systems. ‘+ Skillful in effective problem solving of Engineering and operational issues. + Ability to work effectively within a multi-discipline team environment consisting of Engineering, Projects, Maintenance, and Operations in order to manage the execution of day-to-day issues and long term threats/opportunities ‘* Organized, thorough, and professional * Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with peers and clients. * Ability to articulate and defend a case for change or improvement. ‘+ Computer skills including Word, Excel, and control valve sizing software programs.
