Indian approach - Global context

• On June 4, 2009 in Indian Parliament, the President of India declared,


“Next ten years would be dedicated as a Decade of Innovation”.

• On June 7, 2009 the President of US Barack Obama said in Cairo,


“Education and Innovation will be the currency of 21st Century”.

• In Continuation of the above effort the first “Global Innovation


Leaders’ Summit (I-20)” was held in San Francisco in same year. The
convention collectively felt the need so much that Norway proposed
to Institute a Noble Prize for Innovation.
Indian approach - Global context

• India has the world's largest youth population of 356 million youths between age group of 10-
24 year-olds, despite having a smaller population than China. (UN report November 2014)

• China is second with 269 million young people
• Indonesia is third with 67 million young people

Out of 356 million youth - 65% are pursuing their higher education in the Universities like GTU.
“Make in India” - Vision of our Honourable Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi
Only possible, if these youth are inculcate the various skills and
we would able to transform them from

“Thinkers to Doers”
