Instructional 1. Begin by singing the letter sound song up to the letter of the day.

4. Go through each student’s name for the chicka chicka tree, if the student
has the letter of the day in their name they get to put their name on the
tree. For students who do not have the letter of the day in their name you
say, “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.”
5. For students who do have the letter of the day in their name, ask them if
they have an uppercase letter or lowercase letter.
6. Have the students write the letter of the day in the air with their finger, on
the carpet with their shoe, ect.
7. Using the smart board, pull up the letter of the day in the alphabet book.
8. Show students how to get to the letter of the day’s page in the book.
9. Go through, step by step, how to do the page.
10. Read the poem on the page with the students.
11. Go through each individual word on the right hand side of the letter page.
12. Write the bonus word on the whiteboard for students to see while working.
13. Excuse students to their seats based on their carpet spots.
14. Circulate and aid students while they are working
15. Write friend of the day’s name down on the whiteboard
16. Have student’s write down the name of the friend in their ​My Friends At
School​ book.
17. Allow students to use their busy packet when they are done with their
work.
18. Have students return to the carpet for Sonday.
