Introduction:

We were assigned to conduct an expential learning on funeral homes

Objective:

- To learn the proper flow and circulation of areas inside a funeral home.

- To learn the proper zonings in a funeral home.

- To learn how to properly construct a design for a funeral home

We've conducted our experiential learning at Baguio Memorial Chapels located along Naguillian Road
near the Baguio city hall. The facade of the building has a classical design and has a combination cream
and white...

The building's parking area can accomodate atleast two vehicles, though there is a parking on the
basement reserved for service cars or vans. On the left side of the parking is the entry to the building,
where they have provided access for pwd since the building was elevated 4 steps above the road level.

Upon entering the lobby you will automatically see the hallway where viewing areas can be accessed,
the front desk or information desk is located at the left side near the stairs. We have noticed that there
is no area for a security officer.

Facing the stairs, the admin office is located on its right side although pre-need areas were not present.

When you go to the 2nd floor of the building, areas present here are four viewing chapels that can
accomodate atleast 50 people. The chapels had 9 bench, Inside the viewing chapels are a kitchenette
where families can prepare foods they can serve, and a comfort room.

The casket display area is located on the left side of the stairs. The room holds up to 11 caskets where
people can select their preferred caskets. Caskets displayed will not be ... because once they have
selected their preferred design the management will get the same one on their casket storage area
which is located at their basement.
Their third floor which is the last floor of the building shares almost similar floorplan with the second
floor except for the display area which is a storage at this floor. One thing we have noticed is that there
is only one way entry and exit of the building.

The basement, which is considered to be a part of a private zone, is accessible through the information
desk, with just five to six steps is a landing where a vertical cabinets for storage is located, when you
continue to go down you can access the casket storage which can hold up to almost 40 caskets.

You can also access the basement through the storage which also holds more caskets. The parking space
can accomodate atleast 4 vehicles prioritizing the service cars. The mourge, embalming, and preparation
room is also located here at the basement.

The embalming area can accomodate atleast two bodies, the room has two windows with one exhaust
fan for a good ventilation since chemicals used for embalming are...

Adjacent to the embalming room is the preparation room where they put make up or dress up the dead.
They have a separate ... where the casket can directly be ...
