T heoretical elongation calculation of BRI 4 -PlS and P16 tensioning

Herewith submit the Elongation values for pre-stress tendons stressing of BRI4, P 15 and P16
pier head for your review and approval.

Consideration made when calculating Theoretical Elongation values of strands against the pre

stress force For Dia. 15.24 mm Strands, Ap= 140 mm 2 , Eg= 195± 10 GPa Theoretical elongation

values, Li where calculated by us ing numerica l formula,

Where,
Average pre stress fo rce, Pp = (Ps + P)/2 or
Pp= P( I- e-(kx +11 e)) I (kx +11 e)

Pre-stressing forcePs at each section can be calculated from below equation,

Ps= Po c·<kx +~, o)

Pp = P when straight

P- P re-stress force (without loss),

Xi-Horizontal Length (Projected length) ofthe tendon each section .
1!1Vi and !!!Hi are vertical and Horizontal curvature correction of the tendon length.
X- Sectional length of tendon at each section being considered (with curvature correction.)
Ha. and Va. are tangent d ifferent at each end of the section in relevant directions
8-Total Tangent difference at each end of the section being considered
Here 11 (Friction Coefficient) is considered 0.2 and K (wobble coefficient) is considered as zero
as per the Specification.

Your earliest reply on this regard w ill be high ly appreciated.

1. Tendons shall each consist of the following nos. of 15.24mm uncoated cold drawn low relaxation seven
wire strand.
2. All strands in each tendon shall be stressed simultaneously to the load listed in the prestressing
table before anchoring the
jacking loads. each tendon should be stressed at both ends.
3. All anchorages shall be live end type anchorages to the approval of the engineer. the dimensions of
the anchorage recess
shall be checked to suit the proposed anchorage and stressing system .
4. Concrete strength shall not be less than 85% of feu before stressing tendon.
5. Grouting with class 45 cement.Hoisting girder when cement's strengh is no less than 40MPa.
