Statement from Holy Cross of San Antonio Principal Dr. Rene Escobedo

Holy Cross of San Antonio is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of its students
and all Catholic School students, both past and present. When Holy Cross was informed by the
Archdiocese of an allegation concerning one of its coaches, Ruben Calderon, Holy Cross
placed him on administrative leave on October 13, 2018. Subsequent to this, Mr. Calderon
tendered his resignation which Holy Cross has accepted effective November 6, 2018.

Holy Cross has been in full cooperation with Providence as they investigate what transpired on
their campus more than 20 years ago. While Providence seeks justice for their community, Holy
Cross holds them up in prayer during this difficult time for all involved.

We stand ready to support the entire Providence community in whatever they may need.
