2. REQUERIMENTS

2.1. SIMULATOR AREAS DISTRIBUTION

Simulator building shall be divided into different areas. Each area shall comply, as specified
on the installation drawings, with specific requirements to allocate each particular simulator
equipment.
Sizes and distances between each area shall consider the maximum of 20 meters of cables
length restriction from simulator drawbridge tower to worst case computer cabinet equipment
installed in the Computer’s Room, this distance needs to take into consideration the ducting
trace required to conduct the cables from the end of the draw-bridge to the rear part of the
computer’s racks. This restriction is due to the 30 meters maximum length allowed for video
signal from IGs to the cabin projectors.

2.2. MOTION INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS

The purpose of this section is to ensure that the selected location for the simulator cabin
meets the minimum requirements for electrical power, lighting and environmental conditions.

2.2.1. Environment
The facility (simulator bay) shall have provisions to maintain the following operating
environmental conditions:
 Temperature Range .............. 60°F (15°C) to 80°F (30°C)
 Humidity .................................85% maximum, non-condensing
 Cleanliness.............................. free of dust and debris

2.2.2. Installation Tooling

Indra will be responsible for any special or non standard tool required during the onsite ¡Error! No se encuentra el origen de la referencia. / V 1.0
installation of the motion system.
Indra installation team will provide all necessary tools required for the simulator installation
including drilling machinery.
All these tools and equipment will not form a part of the supply and will be returned to Indra
after simulator installation.
The Customer shall provide the necessary support to Indra in all the required formalities for
Customs Clearance in order to re-export the Indra’s tools as soon as the installation is
finished.

2.2.3. Base Joint Installation

The following instructions are based on the assumption that the mounting surface is
reinforced concrete of sufficient strength to withstand the weight and loads applied by the
motion system to each of the three motion base plates (refer to figure 5 Motion Installation
Drawings floor leading / base pad). The concrete shall be flat and leveled within the
requirements of the motion site installation drawing.

0918500000000RF00 Page: 9
Proprietary Information. Disclosure Limited to Restriction on the Title Page.
The motion base is in the form of an equilateral triangle, triangular base frame within 5,0m
diameter circle. Three 1m x 1m square base joint pads, each one carrying loads of two
actuators.
Worst case of dynamic floor loading on base pads are:
- 126000 LBS (58000 kg) vertical compression force
- 74000 LBS (34000 kg) vertical tension (pull) force
- 63000 LBS (29000 kg) horizontal shear
Floor construction, concrete specifications and required concrete thickness must be specified
by the installation site architect to account for local area specific ground composition and to
comply with local codes and requirements. Continuous steel reinforced concrete slab, grade
C25 or better, is recommended. Independent from building foundation/structures with
vibration isolation is recommended.
Floor construction concrete specification, and required concrete thickness, must be specified
by the installation site architect to account for local area specific ground composition, and to
comply with local codes and requirements (see motion system drawing details).
Floor base pads will be bolted with chemical anchors HILTI HVU M24x210.
The top of the mounting surface should be at the same level than the bay area floor level
within a tolerance of +/-3mm. The surface flatness should be within 3mm under each motion
base pad and within 5mm between any two motion base pads.

2.2.3.1. Installation Tooling

The following standard and special tools and fixing elements are required for motion system
actuators installation, Indra will use its own tools for drilling, which will not be a part of the
supplied equipment; Indra will provide the installation kit required to fix the base joints to the
building floor.
Indra team will drilling and installing the required chemical anchors to fix the motion system
bases to the floor. To allow that, it is required that the concrete of the mounting surface was
dry during at least 30 days after construction.

2.2.4. Simulator Envelope
The simulator envelope details are shown in the following figures. The total roof height of the
building takes into account the maximum simulator height considering motion in the top
extended position, plus an extra height of 2,5 meters required in the bay area to allow the use
of trucks cranes during simulator installation process. The mentioned cranes have also to be
needed when replacement of the collimated mirror were required in the future.
Dimensions indicated in the figures includes the envelope of the cabin movements for
maximum extension of the motion actuators.
It is recommended that approximately two meters margin, for safety walk around (1 meter)
and additional separation from the building walls (1 meter), to be added to each side of the
envelope, as it is shown the figures.
