2.If the root of violence is usually considered violent by its people? Defend your
answer
I think people still see it as violent but disregards it as something not to be alarmed
about due to a probable cultural meaning or understanding put on it. As I understand
violence, it is anyway of inflicting hurtful or unpleasant feeling on someone with our
actions. A lot of things are universally similar among people even those with different
culture such as pain, hurt, happiness, and sadness so implying such will be defined
similarly among different culture but will only be accepted differently.
4. Why is it not easy to use gender-sensitive language
Because most words we were taught have always been gendered. Historically our
language has picked-up gender identified definitions due to our society itself that saw an
importance to gender differentiation in the early years. It is only lately that equality in all
aspects are beginning to be widely accepted, and only now that we see that there is no
need for differentiation. It is hard to stop the gendered language but it is best if we start
defining society with equality among genders to change it.
6. #SHARETHELOAD
The father saw how her daughter experienced the burden of the inequality in gender
roles and expectations in the household. He resent how his son-in-law would not help
her with household work and her daughter letting him, even though they are supposed
to be equals in the house. He resents it even more as he realized he had helped
misguide her daughter as he showed her that it was ok will she was growing up as he
did the same thing. Only then that he had seen his daughter’s struggle that he learned
his misgivings towards his own wife and started to share the household load with her.
7. Why is the study of gender relevant at this time?
I believe that the study of gender is relevant at this time due to the dynamically shifting
of society from conservative people into more open-minded ones. Changes that occur in
the family structure, work, education and community may cause people to see that
perhaps women do deserve more chances and are not just for subordination, or that
how non-binary gender identification is actually important to some people as their
personal identification is to them. Shift of power structure enlightens us to move away
from the traditional that have been restrictive and prejudicial.
9. What is important about establishing whether or not gender can be a product
of biology? Give an example
It is important to separate the idea of a person’s make shift in their internal organs
would affect but not dictate their function in the society. For example, women are said to
have more developed communication sectors in the brain than men during birth. This
does not mean a girl is always better in speaking than boys as an individual’s speaking
performance can be based on his/her confidence, self-esteem, grammar knowledge and
reading and writing skills.
10. What societal norm goes in conflict with gender considerations? How will you
resolve it? Cite an example
One societal norm I find problematic is the notion of aggression that has been differently
ascribed to men and women. Normally people would consider a woman highly
emotional and violent that many would cite hormones to be blamed. Or that women can
be naggy or masungit. I would wonder if this may be how women are thought to release
and is the counterpart of masculine aggression. The way I see it, both men and women
can be aggressive and violent similarly and as often as the other, but people enjoy
putting gender on aspect of life too much even though they are the same thing: an
arousal of emotion or feeling that lead to aggression and violence which, then again,
both are capable of but are viewed in different ways due to the different gender
expectations put upon them.
12. #ProjectWithJOLLIBEE
I would ask the company to involve kids in more co-ed activities and merchandise. I
would want them to promote how both little girls and boys can enjoy the same toys,
games and fun activities and avoid gendered differentiation in interacting with kids. They
can provide withoutworrying if it will only be best sold to boys or girls.Promote a kiddy
party theme that will be showcased for both boys and girls and be a place where kids
will learn that there is no need to discriminate or differentiate. Be a place for equality
among kids and perhaps even among adults by supporting equality advocacies.
13. Is the belief that there are only two categories of people (male and female) a
biological reality or asocial construct? Explain your answer.
It is a social construct because our biological makeshift may be a biological reality but
the meaning we put on it is only based only on how we want it best to mean. The
expectations we imply upon it are only based on how we wish to define or shape our
society. The union of both for the purpose of reproduction can be done alone as
reproduction itself without being told what restrictions and expectations are given unto it.
