PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
MINIMUM USER REQUIREMENTS
L0-SQE-GDL-002 Version: 1 Effective from: 7th September 2012
1. Purpose
To provide minimum user requirements for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for
Metro staff, contractors and visitors working on the Metro Trains Network.
2. Guidelines
The selection, fitting, use, care and replacement of PPE must comply with relevant
Australian/New Zealand Standards and with the manufacturers specifications.
Where the listed minimum PPE requirements do not safely suit the task at hand, the
risk assessment for the task should identify additional PPE required.
Where additional PPE is required that is not listed as an approved item, separate
approval must be sought with a supporting risk assessment, from the GM-HSEQ.
In case of doubt, refer to local instructions for PPE requirements specific to the
location / workplace being entered or task/s being undertaken.
Visitors and Contractors on MTM sites are to comply with the requirements of this
procedure, and with L0-SQE-PRO-019 Management of Personal Protective
Equipment.
The following items are not to be worn / taken into the rail corridor:
Red, green or yellow clothing (a driver could mistake it for a track siding signal or
flag).
Any items coloured red, green or yellow, including clipboards, folders,
lunchboxes, umbrellas, bags etc
Unapproved high visibility clothing.
