SUBJECT : LOGIC CIRCUIT SWITCHING THEORY

LABEX NO. : 17

TITLE : 4-BIT BINARY COUNTER

OBJECTIVES:
1. To familiarize with the pin configuration of the 7493/74LS93 IC.
2. To construct a 4-Bit Binary Counter using the 7493/74LS93 IC.

GROUP #4: SBEE3A

MATERIALS: CRODUA, KLYNT RECO
DE PEDRO, JHANREL
1. Electronic Trainer Board DEVOSORA, ROSELLE MAE P.
2. AF Signal Generator DOLLESIN, RAYMOND
3. VOM ESBER, JOHN PAUL
4. 7493/74LS93
5. LED
6. Resistor, 270 ohms, 1/4 w (4 pcs)
7. Solid copper hookup wires, # 22

PROCEDURE:

1. Check condition of the IC and pin configuration as illustrated.

2. Check condition of the other components with the VOM.

3. Check and adjust power supply on Electronic Trainer Board for 5 V.

4. Hook up the 4-Bit Binary Counter circuit as illustrated using the hookup wires.

5. Set operating controls of the AF Signal Generator to provide a 1 volt square wave,
30 hz output and apply it to the input of the circuit (pin 14).

6. Observe and record LED action.

* AF Signal Generator output frequency may be readjusted for slower

LED action.

Obervation

As you can see in the experiment the counter will start from led 1 follows by the

led 2 until reach the led 4. From led 1 its pulse in two times then the led 2 will lit, and

when the led 1will high in two times the led 3 will high and when the led 1 will high in

four times then the led 4 will high.

Conclusion

We conclude that using a 74LS93 we can make a 4-bit binary counter, the led

action of our output can be graph according to their pulses either high or low, and can be

observe by experiment. As you can see in the truth table, each led action of our output,

from A to D, can be determine. The table shows the order of led in the HIGH or LOW

states.
