Significant Experience(s) Learning(s)/Insight(s) Gained

Day 1 (Monday) Today, with the workshops and orientations
conducted, we got to know the requirements,
 Workshops the Dos and DON’Ts in Practice Teaching, and
 Orientations especially we were introduced to the ITL faculty.
I also got a deeper understanding of the
important things to consider not only during
practice teaching but also in the future.
Day 2 (Tuesday)

 Another workshops, and We were able to recall things we have learned

orientations and clarify concepts that confused us during our
ProfEd and PCK subjects through the workshops
conducted today. However, some students lose
interest during the discussions since most of the
topics were already familiar to us.

Day 3 (Wednesday)

 Pinning ceremony Honestly, it did not feel like a sacred ceremony

for me since family members were not allowed
to attend. I was upset because they were not
here to see me become a Practice Teacher for
real.
Day 4 (Thursday) He warned us about what kind of students we
are about to encounter, an advised us that we
 First meeting with our CT, Sir should never let our guards down. I also learned
Erfe from him how important it is, as an English
teacher, to always communicate to students in
English even outside the classroom for our
authority in them to remain.
Day 5 (Friday) We were a bit challenged during our first
observation because we were already told to
 Our first class observation in assist groups of students assigned to us. What
Grade 5-Timothy made me a bit flustered is the fact that I did not
 Students was pretty wild and know the topic, and students kept asking us
excited about it. I also realized how students tend to
notice physical appearance so it was a good
thing that they have a positive first impression
of us.

Week 2 Date: October 1-5 2018

Significant Experience(s) Learning(s)/Insight(s) Gained

Day 1 (Monday)

 First classroom teaching It was our first classroom teaching without our
 Let the students finish the CT, because he was absent. Few things that
activity that they were working happened was first, our time and classroom
on the other day management failed because we were still not
familiar to the students so basically they did not
listen to us most of the time. Another thing we
have proved is that they will try to make us get
to their level by (1) making u speak in Filipino
and (2) get clingy to us and keep complimenting
us.

Day 2 (Tuesday)

 Classroom management We learned how important it is to know the

successful students’ interest and use it to have authority
 2nd teaching experience over them and capture their attention and
interest. I also learned that being talkative is not
equal to being less intelligent. During the
discussion, I noticed that there are quiet and shy
 Lesson for the day: Figures of students so we realized that we should also
Speech focus on them so they can also participate.

Day 3 (Wednesday)

 Teacher’s day! There were no classes but we kept meeting our

students around the campus so I saw how
students were very appreciative, and realized
that you can either mean nothing or everything
to them—No in between.

Day 4 (Thursday)

 Lesson of the day: Subject-Verb I and my co PTs tried to have a reward system
Agreement and give them stars or “chips” every time they
 3rd teaching experience participate in the discussion. We saw how they
became very participative, but because they
were all desperate to get stars, some students
just raise their hands without even
understanding the questions. But I noticed how
comfortable they are in speaking in English.
Day 5 (Friday) Upon stepping inside of the classroom, we can
see how students were excited to learn. Today,
 Lesson of the day: Transitive students were more calm and quiet even though
and Intransitive Verbs they still want to get a lot of stars. Most of them
are not afraid to ask questions when they do not
understand something. Also, I noticed students
who are not so good in English tend to speak and
explain in Filipino even during discussions.

Week 3 Date: October 8-12, 2018

Significant Experience(s) Learning(s)/Insight(s) Gained

Day 1 (Monday)

 Lesson of the day: Linking and Today, they were very participative regardless
Auxiliary Verbs of stars. Students also asked very smart and
 Last day of teaching in Grade 5- interesting questions regarding the topic. Most
Timothy of them were also eager to create their own
sentences to fully understand the topic. Hey got
sad to know that it’s our last day of teaching.

Day 2 (Tuesday) Most of us were not able to observe students

while taking their test in English because of
 ITL students’ first day in their some misunderstanding with regards to the
2nd quarterly examination. schedule and as to where will we observe. So to
make up with that problem, we just interviewed
one PT per subject as to how they conducted the
exams.
Day 3 (Wednesday) Upon checking the exams of Grade 5-Timothy,
we saw that they all did well on the test because
 Checked the quarterly the average score is high, although most of them
examinations of Grade 5 got very low scores on the vocabulary part of the
Timothy exam. Things I also noticed in the exam is that
they are very good in grammar, but some of
them got confused between metaphor and
personification.
Day 4 (Thursday) After the administration of PTs during the
 Interviewed PTs for the test exams, we interviewed an asked them of the
administration rules they established before and during the
exam. Most of their answers are about keeping
the students quiet and arranging their seats
properly to avoid cheating.
Day 5 (Friday) Today, we also interviewed PTs after their test
 Interviewed PTs for the test administration. One notable thing about their
administration answers today is about making sure that
students are distraction-free during the exam,
so the students’ bags were either placed in front
or at the back of the classroom and only their
ball pens are on their tables.

Week 4 Date: October 15-19, 2018

Significant Experience(s) Learning(s)/Insight(s) Gained

Day 1 (Monday) Today, we were with the students and we
rechecked their test papers before recording it.
 Rechecked the test papers Some students got very upset upon having an
with the students average score. So I realized that teachers have a big
responsibility on emphasizing that even though
they got low scores on their exams, it is not the only
the basis of their grades and the important thing is
that they did their best and learned something.
Day 2 (Tuesday)

 Encoded the grades in the Upon encoding their grades in the class record,
class record some students got very low grades, though it is still
not final, just because of incomplete requirements.
I realized that it is really impossible not to make
adjustments while encoding grades because even
though we know that grades does not define a
person, we clearly saw how it affect students. I also
realized that everyone was very participative
during our stay. Not only in reciting but also in
using English when communicating to us, even
outside the classroom.

Day 3 (Wednesday)

 Opening of ITLympics Today, students were very excited, while PTs, not
so much, because of the unorganized schedule and
team distribution. Also, instructions were not clear
as to what are we going to do. I noticed how very
active students in the classroom got very obedient
when the dance steps are being taught to them. I
guess moving around outside the classroom is
what they really like.

Day 4 (Thursday) Students and PTs became very competitive. During

the games, students kept asking for PTs’ turn to
 Games started play. It is fun to cheer for my Grade 5 students even
when were not on the same team. I am glad to see
that most of our students try to be active despite
knowing that some of them are shy. They did not
hesitate to join when their names got called.
Day 5 (Friday)

 Closing of ITLympics Today, it is PTs’ turn to play some games. However,

(Intrams and announcement during some games, there were some students who
of winners— champion: blue got injured. Also, students were under the sun the
team; 1st: yellow; 2nd: white; whole day and they played on hard cement instead
etc) of playing in the grasslandia. I saw how PTs got
very concerned of the students. We kept making
them to drink water and to keep themselves dry.

Week 5 Date: October 22-26, 2018

Significant Experience(s) Learning(s)/Insight(s) Gained

Day 1 (Monday) Today, we faced the consequences of some
people’s rash, foolish and selfish actions. We
 Meeting about the deliverables learned to be more careful with our words and
of PTs from October 24-26 to always think of the good of a lot people
instead of just our own.
Day 2 (Tuesday) We saw the new ITL building and also surveyed
and measured the classrooms for our
 Toured around the new ITL deliverables. We also discussed with our
building members about the activity for the next days.
Day 3 (Wednesday) While making the CBAR, I realized that it is hard
to assume results because there are a lot of
 CBAR making factors to consider. We were also able to reflect
on the problems we have encountered for the
days we have taught.
Day 4 (Thursday) We made the floor plan today and realized that
even the learning environment is also the
 Floor plan making teacher’s responsibility because it is important
for students to have a safe, and comfortable
learning environment—it affects the way they
learn and keep their attention in the lessons.
Day 5 (Friday) Upon making the deliverable or today, I was able
to reflect on how critical and fast I thought of a
 Made A Teacher’s Story solution when problem arise in the classroom. I
realized more how each student is unique in
his/her own way and that students have
different levels of understanding and coping
with the learning environment.

Week 6 Date: November 5-9, 2018

Significant Experience(s) Learning(s)/Insight(s) Gained

Day 1 (Monday) Today, I got to know few of our students in
Grade 9- Brunner. Upon asking follow-up
 1st day of teaching in Grade 9- questions about our getting to know activity, I
Brunner learned that unlike grade 5 students, they know
 Conducted a getting to know that they will evaluate us during our final demo
activity that is why instead of them trying to please us, it
 Flag ceremony seems like it is we who have to please them. I
also experienced quietness and peacefulness in
the classroom today, which is only because the
students were still trying to adjust to us, their
new PTs.
Day 2 (Tuesday) Unlike yesterday where we just had an
introductory activity, this day, we already
 2nd day of teaching in Grade 9- started the lesson which is about volunteerism.
Brunner We gave them an assignment yesterday in which
 Lesson about volunteerism they are to watch a video. I learned as I gave the
quiz about the video is that they mainly focus on
the message the video is trying to give, and not
the subjective details. They understood the
video but were not able to remember details
about the video like the name and location of the
watershed.
Day 3 (Wednesday) I made a lesson plan today for the 1st and 2nd day
of teaching in Grade 9-Brunner. As I was making
 Making of Lesson plan for the the lesson plan, I learned that it became easier
1st and 2nd day. for to not only conduct the lessons but also make
the lesson plan when we strictly follow the
Instructional plan that we made.
Day 4 (Thursday) While preparing the lesson plan for Grade 4
students, my co-PTs advised us of how these
 Making of Lesson plan for the students behave and perform in class. So upon
1st day of teaching in Grade 4 making our LP, I realized that it is hard to go
back and forth teaching High school to
Elementary students in a week because of how
wide the gap is with regards to their behavior
and coping strategies in the classroom.
Day 5 (Friday)

 1st day of teaching in Grade 4 Upon teaching in Grade 4 students, I saw how
 Lesson for the day: Antonyms they are much behave and quiet than Grade 5-
and Thesaurus Timothy, but their attention span is lesser.
Today, I learned how vital having visual aids are
in teaching elementary students to keep their
attention and focus on the lesson. Also, being
strict sometimes does not give you authority
over them.

Week 7 Date: November 12-16, 2018

Significant Experience(s) Learning(s)/Insight(s) Gained

Day 1 (Monday) Today, upon observing my co-PT conduct her
grand demo, I learned the importance of having
 Observation of Grand Demo in engaging activities because it is the key to keep
Grade 9-Brunner the attention and interest of the students. It is
also important to clearly explain everything
they will do before having the activity because if
they do not understand it well, there is a big
chance that they will also not perform well
during the activity.
Day 2 (Tuesday)

 Observation of Grand Demo in Unlike yesterday, I learned something new upon

Grade 9-Brunner observing my other co-PT in his demo. Today, I
learned how important time and classroom
management are. Even if your instructional
materials are the most creative there is, if you do
not have proper time management and cannot
control the class, everything you have prepared
for will mean nothing. That is when I realized
why our CT kept advising us to make a lesson
plan for a 40-minute class only, even if the class
of Grade 9- Brunner is for 60 minutes a day.
