Intro

Air pollution is when gases are

released into the air. Air pollution is a
serious topic and should be taken
seriously because it affects how we
live on a daily basis. Air pollution is
dangerous because it affects the
temperature, which can alter the
weather patterns across the globe.
Not only does it affect the air, but it
also affects our health.
The Issues
Southern California having one of the air pollutions in
the region as an opinion, the state contains the highest
number of unhealthy ozone days, caustic, and gas. These
types of air qualities can affect the health of humans
who live in this area, causing asthma, COPD, and lung
cancer. The particles from diesels can bypass a human’s
defense system, possibly damaging the pulmonary
passages in the lungs. There are more people in
California who own at least one motor vehicle than any
other state in the region. It is evident that motor
vehicles will work with acid rain, adding themselves to
greenhouse gases which is one of the causes of climate
change. Everyday, human interaction in California
releases thousands of pollutants in the air. This goes to
show that the air pollution in California is causing so
much issues that affect the environment and especially
the health of us humans.
Possible Solutions for the Air problem
The City Council took a major step forward in September 2016 by establishing a plan to
get all of its energy from renewable sources like wind and solar. It voted 12–0 to approve
a motion directing the Los Angeles Department of Water & Power to assemble a team to
research how to move the city to 100% renewable energy. The Department of Water and
Power provides electricity to about 4 million residents and gets about a fifth of its energy
from renewable sources such as wind, solar, geothermal and biomass and waste, and
nearly half its energy from natural gas, a fossil fuel that would be eliminated under the
100% clean energy goal.

The reason why renewable energy is better because it is clean, affordable, and effectively
infinite. Solar panels and Windmills are more efficient because it produces no emission
and provide a cleaner air to the area unlike the emissions that came from the fossil fuels
that are being burned
Alternative Solutions to reduce Air Pollution
in Southern California

The solar panels are made of solar cells. A cell is a Wind power is converted into electricity by magnets

attached by wire to a circuit. As light strikes the As the magnets pass the stator, AC electricity is
semiconductor, light is converted into electricity that produced. It is then converted into DC electricity which
flows through the circuit. As soon as the light is can be used to charge batteries which store the

inverter for feeding power into the electricity grid.
Conclusion

We humans have been relying on the use of fossil fuels and have been depending so much on
them that we forget that we also need to save fossil fuels so we can be able to use them in the
future. We have been using resources to fast that it can harm the environment, leading to the
contribution of catastrophic events or what others call climate changes. Us humans have to
start thinking more about the future than just thinking about what we have now (cars, electronic
devices, etc.) Yes, they may be important but still save their energy for later use. There is still so
much time for that. However the use of fossil fuels may be have important benefits in our lives
such as heating our homes, using computers for work/school, etc. but that is using fossil fuels for
what is needed other that what is wanted. So generally, .humans have to save up on fossil fuels
but use them more on what is needed.
