...there are three kinds of love: selfish, natural and selfless.
Selfish love is when we do not love
unless we expect our love to be returned.
‘Fair exchange’ or ‘retribution’ implies
money, praise, pleasure, social recognition
or even personal psychological satisfaction.
Great and selfless though this kind of love might seem,
the motive is self-interest,
and thus selfish love remains imperfect.
Natural love concerns our natural sympathy,
emotions or attraction
as with parents who love their children
and love for our relatives and friends.
However, such natural love is also imperfect.
Selfless Love concerns those
who unconditionally Love others
without any particular self-interest at all.
Consequently, Selfless Love is Perfect
because its Source is our Lord God
Who is Love Itself.
Selfless Love is the most important of His Holy Virtues,
for it continues into Eternity
and is vital to the Acequisition of Eternal Life
in His Divine Kingdom of Love.
