KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 22 ― PAS president Datuk Seri
Abdul Hadi Awang said he is happy with his party's decision
not to join the Bersih 5 rally as such demonstrations were
disruptive and brought about only negative implications.
Berita Harian quoted Hadi as saying that the rally was a
burden on the people and that it was badly managed by its
organisers.
“We see that there was not one good measure taken to
adhere to the law to ensure peace whereby peace is right of
all (people).
“You can demonstrate but there is a proper way to do so. We
don't want demonstrations that cause clashes, which are
detrimental to the people,” Hadi was quoted saying when
met at the sidelines of the Terengganu state assembly
session yesterday.
More than 10,000 people took to the streets of the capital
city yesterday at the fifth edition of polls reform group Bersih
2.0’s demonstrations to protest against corruption.
Though the Bersih 5 demonstration ended peacefully without
incident, several opposition leaders were arrested shortly
after.
Bersih 2.0 chairman Maria Chin Abdullah has been detained
since Friday under an anti-terrorism law, the Security
Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012.
