2017 Young Leaders’ Scholarship Program

ATTENTION STUDENTS IN MIDDLE SCHOOL:

The BCEA is pleased to announce the start of the 2017 Young Leaders’ Scholarship
Program! One $500 scholarship will be awarded to a Beaufort County public middle
school-aged student in each of the following categories: 1) rising 5 th-6th grader and 2)
7th-8th grader. The scholarship based on merit, community and /or church involvement,
school report card, and the application essay.

Applicants must be rising 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th graders at the end of the 2016-17 school
year and be enrolled in a Beaufort County public school.

Required Materials: The following items must be submitted along with your application
and essay response.

• An official school copy of your report card with a GPA of 2.0 or above

• Three letters of recommendation (from: a teacher, a principal, or guidance counselor,

a citizen of the community or your church.)
(Recommendations should include references to such information as volunteer service, personal
character, leadership and merit).

The application deadline is March 1, 2017. Scholarships are awarded upon

confirmation of acceptance into a leadership camp or educational summer institute and
are non-renewable. A check for the financial award will be mailed directly to the
camp/summer institute designated. Scholarships will be awarded on April 1, 2017.
