As per API 5L (Latest Edition) / Customer Spec. / other specification. The same shall be
described in MPS/QAP/Process Chart.
5.0 TECHNICAL DATA:
POWER REQUIREMENTS:
Voltage U = 220 VAC + 10% / -15%
Frequency F = 50 Hz
Power P = 1000 VA
Fuse = 16A slow – blow
ARGON SUPPLY:
Quality = 4.0 grade : 99.998% pure argon.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS:
Temp = Min. 6° C, Max. 40° C
Air humidity = 20 – 80 %
6.0 METHOD:
6.1 The standardization shall be performed using standard samples (RN16 & RN17) regularly,
generally once per week or as and when any erratic result is obtained.
6.2 Before starting the test, spectrometer shall be calibrated by reference standard samples (e.g. BS
1931, 432/1 etc.).
6.3 Sample shall be prepared for chemical testing on a 60 grit emery paper for accuracy. Avoid over
heating during surface preparation.
6.4 The argon gas pressure should be 40 lit/ min.
6.5 Place the prepared sample on the spark stand.
6.6 The clamp should rest easily on the sample; the screw must be tightened once the knob has been
adjusted. Leakage should be checked.
6.7 A safety circuit is completed when the sample is clamped in place.
