2.3 Cell ID Locking Function

2.3.1 System Overview
It is a software function to lock ICS repeater service into one BTS among same mobile operator’s,
same frequency signal by using 3G modem to guarantee its operation stable through turning on or
turning off based on locked BTS signal QoS(Quality of Signal).

The operation concept is as follows.

1. Cell-ID (PSC and CID) is stored into memory and lock to one mobile operator’s BTS
2. If proper signal level of BTS is not monitored, ICS repeater can turn off its amplifier to stop
repeating service by manual or automatically through configuration of MCC, MNC, PSC, CID on GUI

LTD.

65
FR-RWRL43V Operating Manual

2.3.2 System Block Diagram

Figure 14. System Block Diagram.

In order to make repeater work only when the designated PSC or Cell ID is received, MCU uses the
PSC or Cell ID information received from modem used for remote management. The MCU searches
the designated Cell ID or PSC in the Cell ID and PSC list received from modem and while it is
detected MCU makes repeater keep on the service. However, if the designated Cell ID or PSC is not
found in the received Cell ID and PSC list consecutively for several trials, MCU turns off the HPA to
stop the service. After stopping the service, MCU continues to search the designated Cell ID or PSC
and if it is found it make the repeater start service immediately.

2.3.3 Cell ID Locking Function Flow Chart

This function’s flow chart is as follows. (Next Page)

After this amount of lost, MCU shuts down the repeater. We think
five is proper.
The minimum time interval to shut down the repeater is
Cell_ID_Check_Interval × Count_Lost_Max.
For the case where Cell_ID_Check_Interval = 15 minutes and
Count_Lost_Max =5, the minimum time interval becomes 25 minutes.
Flag to indicate whether the repeater is in the shutdown mode (1) or
Shutdown Flag
not (0).

2.4 Auto Alarm Report Function

Figure 16. Auto Alarm Report Function.

Auto Alarm Report function is a function reports alarm events of ICS repeater to RMS modem
automatically.

If user register user’s mobile phone number onto RMS GUI, this function sends SMS to user’s
mobile phone in case of alarm events happened.

Auto Alarm Report function is implemented in this ICS repeater and user can enable or disable by
using GUI configuration.

4.4.2 Cell ID List GUI

Cell ID Locking function is a function to compare the Cell information (Cell ID, PSC, PLMN ID, RSCP)
user entered with BTS Cell information received by modem.
In case of match of Cell information, the normal repeating service is performed.
In case of mismatch of Cell information, Cell ID matching counter is increased and if Cell Id is
matched during counter increase, counter will be reset.
In case of one of Cell ID mismatch event occurred, counter number is increased up to 5 and in case
of reaching 5, AMP is automatically shut down.
Once AMP is shut down, Cell ID comparison checking is executed one per every configured interval
time.
In case of Cell ID match event, counter is reset and AMP is turned on to restart the repeating
service.
