INTRODUCTORY RITES

There is a moment in our lives when life gains richer meaning because it is
shared. Now, this is the moment of MICHAEL and DORIDEL to be united together
as a community with Christ in our midst. We welcome them as they come to live
out this love creatively as we believe in a living God who is the source of life and
love; let us accompany them with prayers as they start their journey in a new
lifestyle and a new vocation. Let us begin the celebration. Please stand as we sing
our entrance hymn.

ENTRANCE SONG
Priest: In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy
Spirit.
All: Amen.
Priest: The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the Love of God, and
the Communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
All: And with your spirit.
Priest: Dearly beloved, MICHAEL and DORIDEL, God is love and has, in
a mysterious way, drawn you together in love. But He leaves
you free to make that love grow or to let it wither and die. The
Lord will help you make it grow, if you do your share, and stand
to the commitment in the covenant which you are about to
seal.

PENITENTIAL RITE

Priest: My brothers and sisters, to prepare ourselves to celebrate the

sacred mysteries, let us call to mind our sins.

All: I confess to Almighty God, and to you my brothers and sisters,

that I have greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my words, in

1
what I have done and in what I have failed to do through my
fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault;
therefore I asked blessed Mary, ever virgin, all the Angels and
Saints, and to you my brothers and sisters to pray for me to the
Lord our God.
Priest: May the Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins
and bring us to everlasting life.
All: Amen.
Kyrie (to be sung)

COLLECT
Priest: Let us pray.
Priest: Be attentive to our prayers, O Lord, and in your kindness pour
out your grace on these your servants MICHAEL and DORIDEL,
that coming together before your altar, they may be confirmed
in love for one another. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your
Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy
Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
All: Amen.
Commentator: Please be seated for the Liturgy of the Word.

LITURGY OF THE WORD

FIRST READING (GENESIS 2:18-24)

READER: A Reading from the Book of Genesis.

The Lord God said: “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will
make a suitable partner for him.” So the Lord God formed out
of the ground various wild animals and various birds, in the air,
and He brought them to the man called each of them would be

2
its name. The man gave names to all cattle, all the birds of the
air, and all the wild animals, but none proved to be the suitable
partner for the man. So the Lord God cast a deep sleep on the
man and while he was asleep, he took one of his ribs and
closed up its place with flesh. The Lord God then builds up into
a woman the rib that He had taken from the man. When He
brought her to the man, the man said: “This one, at last, is
bone of my bones and flesh from my flesh: This one shall be
called “woman”, for out of “her man” this one has been taken.”
That is why two of them become one body.
The word of the Lord.
All: Thanks be to God.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM
Response: How Lovely is Your Dwelling Place, O Lord, Mighty God, Lord of
All.

SECOND READING (EPHESIANS 5:21-32)

READER: A reading from the first letter of Paul to the Ephesians.
Beloved, be subordinate to one another out of reverence for
Christ. Wives should be subordinate to their husband as to the
Lord. For the husband is the head of his wife just as Christ is
the head of the Church, he himself the savior of the body. As
the Church is subordinate to Christ, so wives should be
subordinate to their husbands in everything. Husbands, love
your wives, even as Christ love the Church and handed Himself
over for her Husbands should love their wives as their own
bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For this reason, a
man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his
wife, and the two shall become one flesh. This is a great
mystery, but I speak in reverence to Christ and the Church.

3
The word of the Lord.
All: Thanks be to God.
Commentator: Please all stand to honor the Holy Gospel.

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION

GOSPEL (MATTHEW 19:3-6)

Priest: The Lord be with you.
All: And with your spirit.
Priest: A reading from the Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew.
All: Glory to you, O Lord.
Priest: Some Pharisees approached him, and tested him saying: Is it
lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any cause whatsoever?”
He said in reply, “Have you not read that from the beginning
the Creator made them male and female, for this reason a man
shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and
the two shall become one flesh? So they are no longer two but
one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, no human
being must separate.”
The Gospel of the Lord.

All: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Commentator: Please all be seated and let us listen to the Homily.

4
LIGHTING OF THE CANDLES
Commentator: These candles symbolize the two separate lives enlightened by
God’s word. The flame is the symbol of Christ who is the light

of Christ will always be on you and that your lives may always
one true love.

His church.
MICHAEL and DORIDEL: Grant us, O Lord/ to be one heart and one soul/ from
this day forward/ for better, for worse/ for richer, for poorer/in
sickness and in health/ until death do us part.

CONFIRMATION OF THE MARRIAGE BOND

Priest: And I, by the authority of the Church, calling on all those
present here as witnesses, confirm and bless the bond of
marriage which you have contracted.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy
Spirit.
All: Amen.
BLESSING OF THE ARRHAE AND RINGS

Commentator: May we ask the Arrhae and Ring Bearers, to be assisted by the
Best Man and the Maid of Honor, to bring the symbols before
the priest.
Priest: MICHAEL and DORIDEL, we shall now bless your rings and
arrhae.
Our help is in the Name of the Lord.
All: Who made heaven and earth.
Priest: Bless, O Lord, these rings so that your servants, MICHAEL and
DORIDEL, who wear them, may ever live in mutual love and in
unbroken loyalty.
Through Christ, our Lord.

7
All: Amen.
Priest: Let us pray.
Bless, O Lord, your servants, MICHAEL and DORIDEL, with
sufficiency of material possessions which these arrhae
symbolize, so that they may use them to attain eternal life.
Through Christ, our Lord.
All: Amen.

GIVING OF THE WEDDING RINGS

Priest: The wedding ring is the outward and visible sign of a spiritual
bond which unites two loyal hearts. It is a seal of the vows
which , MICHAEL and DORIDEL, give to one another.
MICHAEL: DORIDEL, wear this ring as a sign of my love and loyalty to you.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy
Spirit.
Amen.

DORIDEL: MICHAEL, wear this ring as a sign of my love and loyalty to you.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy
Spirit.
Amen.

GIVING OF THE ARRHAE

MICHAEL: I give you this arrhae, as a pledge of my dedication to your
welfare. In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the
Holy Spirit.
Amen.
DORIDEL: And I accept them.

8
BLESSING AND PRESENTATION OF THE BIBLE (Optional)
Priest: Bless, O Lord this Holy Bible, that your servants, MICHAEL and
DORIDEL, who read it may find guidance, strength, wisdom and
God’s assurance of steadfast love in Jesus Christ. Bless the
home and family of MICHAEL and DORIDEL. We ask this
through Christ, our Lord.
All: Amen.
Priest: MICHAEL and DORIDEL, accept this Holy Bible, the Living Word
of God. May His words be the source of your living together for
life.
MICHAEL and DORIDEL: We accept God’s Word with humility and fervent prayer
that God reigns in our married life, in the family we will raise
and in the home we will build together.

PRESENTATION OF THE NEWLY WED COUPLE TO THE ASSEMBLED COMMUNITY

Priest: My dear brothers and sisters gathered in this assembly, it is my
great honor to present to you MICHAEL and DORIDEL as a new
married couple in our community. Let us give them a round of
applause.
Commentator: May I request the Parents and Principal Sponsors to return to
their respective seats.

VEIL AND CORD CEREMONIES

Commentator: May I request MICHAEL and DORIDEL to please kneel down.
The secondary Sponsors will now put the Veil and Cord as
symbols of God’s presence over the Covenant they entered
into and their shared responsibility in married life oneness in
flesh.

9
We ask the Veil Sponsors to offer and lay the symbol of purity.
The veil symbolizes the authority of Christ. The veil is placed
over the head of the bride and over the shoulder of the groom.
With the help of our Lord, MICHAEL will love and serve his
wife, as Christ loves the Church. DORIDEL will open herself to
her love and allow MICHAEL to serve her in his way.

We ask the Cord Sponsors to offer and lay the symbol of unity.
The cord also called the “Jugal” from the Latin word “jugum”
which means yoke. A yoke signifies two things: something to be
carried and something that unites those who carry it. The cord
symbolizes the “Yoke of Matrimony”- the bonds of
commitment of MICHAEL and DORIDEL have for each other as
God has joined them together.
Please all stand for the Intercessory Prayers.

PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL

Priest: Dearly beloved, let us now pray for the Church and for our
newly wedded couple whose marriage reflects the union of
Christ and His Church. In every petition, let our response be:
Lord, graciously hear us.
Reader: For the Holy Church spread all over the world; for its leaders
and for the rulers of our nation, let us pray to the Lord.
All: Lord, graciously hear us.

Reader: For the poor and the sick and for all those in trial and affliction,
let us pray to the Lord.
All: Lord, graciously hear us.
Reader: For MICHAEL and DORIDEL that God may keep their hearts
united forever; let us pray to the Lord.

10
All: Lord, graciously hear us.
Reader: That He may protect them from evil, lighten their burdens and
fortify them in their trials, let us pray to the Lord.
All: Lord, graciously hear us.
Reader: That He may renew the grace of Sacrament of Matrimony in
the married couples here present; let us pray to the Lord.
All: Lord, graciously hear us.
Priest: Almighty, eternal God, look down with favor upon your
servants MICHAEL and DORIDEL. Grant them to remain faithful
to you and to one another. And at the end of a long and well
spent life, reward them with eternal happiness together (with
their children) all those who love them. We ask this through
Christ, our Lord.
All: Amen.
Commentator: Please remain standing for the Nuptial Blessing.

NUPTIAL BLESSING

Priest: Let us pray to the Lord for these Bride and Groom, who come
to the altar as they begin their married life, that (partaking of
the Body and Blood of Christ) they may always be bound
together by love for one another.

Holy Father, who formed man in your image, male and female
you created them, so that as husband and wife, united in body
and heart, they might fulfill their calling in the world;

O God, who, to reveal the great design you formed in your

love, willed that the love of spouses for each other should
foreshadow the covenant you graciously made with your

11
people, so that, by fulfillment of the sacramental sign, the
mystical marriage of Christ with his Church might become
manifest in the union of husband and wife among your faithful;
Graciously stretch out your right hand over these your
servants, MICHAEL and DORIDEL, we pray, and pour into their
hearts the power of the Holy Spirit.
Grant, O Lord, that, as they enter upon this sacramental union,
they may share with one another the gifts of your love and, by
being for each other a sign of your presence, become one
heart and one mind.
May they also attain, O Lord, by their deeds the home they are
forming (and prepare their children to become members of
your heavenly household by raising them in the way of the
Gospel).

Graciously crown with your blessings your daughter DORIDEL,

so that, by being a good wife (and mother), she may bring
warmth to her home with a love that is pure and adorn it with
welcoming graciousness. Bestow a heavenly blessing also, O
Lord, on MICHAEL, your servant, that he may be a worthy, a
good and faithful husband (and a provident father).

Grant, Holy Father, that, desiring to approach your table as a

couple joined in Marriage in your presence, they may one day
have the joy of taking part in your great banquet in heaven.

Through Christ, our Lord.

All: Amen.

Commentator: Please be seated for the Liturgy of the Eucharist. May I request
the Secondary Sponsors to please remove the Cord and Veil. At
this moment together with MICHAEL and DORIDEL, we will

12
offer our gifts to the Lord as thanksgiving for all our blessings
especially at this moment that the Lord has made for them.
The Eucharistic Gifts will be brought in procession to the Altar.

LITURGY OF TH EUCHARIST

PRESENTATION OF THE GIFTS

Priest: Blessed are you Lord, God of all creation, for through your
goodness we have received the bread we offer you: fruit of the
earth and work of human hands, it will become for us the
bread of life.
All: Blessed be God forever.
Priest: By the mystery of this water and wine may we come to share in
the divinity of Christ who humbled himself to share in our
humanity.
Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation for through your
goodness we have received the wine we offer you: fruit of the
vine and work of human hands, it will become our spiritual
drink.
All: Blessed be God forever.

Priest: With humble spirit and contrite heart may we be accepted by

you, O Lord, and may our sacrifice in your sight this day be
pleasing to you, Lord God.
Wash me, O Lord, from my iniquity and cleanse me from my
sin.
Commentator: All please stand,
Priest: Pray brethren (brothers and sisters), that my sacrifice and
yours may be acceptable to God, the Almighty Father.

13
All: May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the praise
and glory of His name, for our good and the good of all his Holy
Church.

PRAYER OVER THE OFFERINGS

Priests: Receive in your kindness, Lord, the offerings we bring in
gladness before you, and in your fatherly love watch over those
you have joined in a sacramental covenant.
Through Christ, our Lord.
All: Amen.

EUCHARISITC PRAYER II

PREFACE
Priest: The Lord be with you.
All: And with your spirit.
Priest: Lift up your hearts.
All: We lift them up to the Lord.
Priest: Let us give thanks to the Lord, our God.

All: It is right and just.

Priest: It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always and
everywhere to give you thanks, Lord, Holy Father, Almighty and
Eternal God, through Christ, our Lord.
For in Him You have made a new covenant with Your people, so
that, as you have redeemed man and woman by the mystery of
Christ’s Death and Resurrection, so in Christ you might make

14
them partakers of divine nature and joint heirs with Him of
heavenly glory.
In the union of husband and wife you give a sign of Christ’s
loving gift of grace, so that the Sacrament we celebrate might
draw us back more deeply into the wondrous design of your
love.
And so, with the Angels and all the Saints, we praise You, and
without end we acclaim.

SANCTUS
All (sing): Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts…

CONSECRATION
Priest: You are indeed Holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness.
Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray, by sending down
your Spirit upon them like the dewfall, so that they may
become for us the Body and Blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ. At
the time He was betrayed and entered willingly into His
Passion, He took the bread and, giving thanks, broke it, and
gave it to His disciples, saying:
TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND EAT OF IT, FOR THIS IS MY BODY,
WHICH WILL BE GIVEN UP FOR YOU.

In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice

and, once more giving thanks, he gave it to his disciples, saying:
TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND DRINK FROM IT, FOR THIS IS THE
CHALICE OF MY BLOOD, THE BLOOD OF THE NEW AND
ETERNAL COVENANT, WHICH WILL BE POURED OUT FOR YOU
AND FOR MANY FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS.
DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME.

15
Priest: The mystery of faith.
All (sing): Christ has died, Christ has risen, Christ will come again.
Priest: Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of His Death and
Resurrection, we offer you, Lord, the Bread of life and the
Chalice of Salvation, giving thanks that you have held us worthy
to be in your presence and minister to you.
Humbly we pray that, partaking of the Body and Blood of
Christ, we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.
Remember, Lord, your Church, spread throughout the world,
and bring her to the fullness of charity, together with FRANCIS,
our Pope and JOSE, our bishop and all the clergy.
Be mindful also, Lord, of MICHAEL and DORIDEL, whom you
have brought to their wedding day, so that by your grace they
may abide in mutual love and in peace.
Remember our brothers and sisters, who have fallen asleep in
the hope of the resurrection, and all who have died in your
mercy: welcome them into the light of your face. Have mercy
on us all, we pray, that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of
God, Saint Joseph her husband, with the blessed Apostles, and
all the Saints who have pleased you throughout the ages, we
may merit to be coheirs to eternal life, and may praise and
glorify you.
Through Your Son, Jesus Christ.
Priest: Through Him, and with Him, and in Him, O God, Almighty
Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is
yours, forever and ever.
All (sing): Amen.

COMMUNION RITE

16
THE LORD’S PRAYER
Priest: At the Savior’s command and formed by Divine Teaching, we
dare to say:
All (sing): Our Father…

peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be
always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the
blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
All (sing): For the kingdom, the power and the glory are Yours, now and
forever.

SIGN OF PEACE
Priest: Lord Jesus Christ, who said to Your apostles: Peace I leave you,
my peace I give you, look not on our sins, but on the faith of
Your Church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in
accordance with your will. Who live and reign forever and ever.
All: Amen.
Priest: The peace of the Lord be with you always.
All: And with your spirit.
Priest: Let us offer each other the sign or peace.

LAMB OF GOD
Priest: May this mingling of the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus
Christ bring eternal life to us who receive it.
All (sing): Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world,
Have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world,
Have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world,

17
Grant us peace.

COMMUNION
Priest: May the receiving of your Body and Blood, Lord Jesus Christ,
not bring me to judgment and condemnation, but through
your loving mercy be for me protection in mind and body and a
healing remedy.
Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sins
of the world. Blessed are those called to the supper of the
Lamb.
All: Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but
only say the word and my soul shall be healed.
Priest: May the Body of Christ keep me safe for eternal life.
Commentator: Please all be seated. Please come forward, fall in line for the
reception of the Holy Communion.

Through Christ, our Lord.

All: Amen.
