INTRODUCTION

Agribusiness is a system of interrelated and closely knit stages in the life cycle of an
agricultural consumer product. As stated by Custodio3 agribusiness encompasses all operations
involved in the production of farm inputs, the use of these farm inputs in the cultivation of crops
or raising of livestock, the various handling and processing of agricultural commodities, and the
transfer of these commodities to the end-users. Interspersed among these operations are the
various support services that provide “logistics, coordination, financing, manpower, technology,
information, policies and programs, incentives and other services” that lead to the achievement
of a successful agricultural business enterprise.
Cited earlier are the five major areas that are also subsystems making up the whole
agribusiness System.

The input subsystem: This is the first subsystem from which all other agribusiness subsystems
emanate. Here, all inputs like fertilizers, seeds, machineries, are manufactured, imported or
distributed.

The production subsystem: Inputs are directly used for the production of an agricultural
commodity as end product in itself or as a raw material for the production of other products.

The processing subsystem: The commodities from the production subsystem are transformed
into various products. The levels of transformation depend upon the level of processing4, which
can be as simple as washing and grading to as complex as chemical alteration.

The marketing subsystem: This subsystem is concerned with the transfer of goods from source to
end-user. It includes all handling procedures and infrastructures that move the commodities from
one point to another. The marketing subsystem may take the following routes:

 Transfer of agricultural inputs from manufacturers to farm input users.

 Transfer of commodities from production site to processing site
 Transfer of commodities from processing site to end-consumers
THE INPUT SUBSYSTEM: In this subsystem all the things used in farming are here like seed,
fertilizer, tools and machineries.

THE PRODUCTION SUBSYSTEM : In this subsystem all the production happened like
plantation and harvesting.

THE PROCESSING SUBSYSTEM: In this subsystem all the harvested rice are going to be
processed.

THE MARKETING SUBSYSTEM: In this subsystem all the rice plant that has been processed are
going to market.
OBJECTIVES

This study generally aims to analyze and assess how all agribusiness subsystem
helps the farmer in his rice field plantation.

 Input subsystem
 Production subsystem
 Processing subsystem
 Marketing subsystem
RESULT AND DISSCUSSION

This chapter gives detailed analysis of the data found in the study. The data will be drawn
from the interview.

According to the participant, input subsystem are the mostly used things in farming
including seeds, fertilizer, tools and machineries. Seeds are the most important thing when you
were about to start planting. It is the main needs of a farmer in planting of rice or crops. The
fertilizer is used as a second important needs in planting. It helps plants to grow healthy and
faster. The tools are used in taking care of the plant one example of it is sickle, it used to cut
grasses also when harvesting of rice it is useful too. The machineries are the common things used
in harvesting people nowadays prefer to use machineries in harvesting because it is more
efficient and fast.

Based on the participant insight, The other subsystems are the production, processing and
marketing. In production subsystem it usually happened when you were about to harvest all your
crops. Then after you harvest it you will go in processing subsystem to processed all the
harvested crops and make it to a products. The last subsystem is the marketing it is happened
when all other subsystems are done including input, production and processing
METHODOLOGY

This chapter discussed the method used in conducting this study, locale of the study,
the participants, research design, The data gathering techniques and instrument, validation of
data gathered.

Research Design

The purpose of this study is to gain farmer insight about the agribusiness subsystem in his field
of agriculture. For Example, what is the important subsystem that help you in farming. And what
subsystem helps you to provide good and better farming.

Research Approach

The participant involved in conducting this interview is an owner of a farm who owns hectare of
rice plantation.

Data Collection method

The primary data will be collected by the researcher. Moreover, these data will be gathered
directly from the participants through an in depth interview.

Data Analysis method

The data analysis of this research will be mostly represented on qualitative manner. It has been
mention earlier that the data will be gathered by an in depth interview. As a result in this analysis
will be qualitative.
SUMMARY, CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

SUMMARY

The main objective of this study was to make a descriptive interview about how
all the agribusiness subsystem works in the field of agriculture.

Specifically it sought to answer all this:

 What is the most important subsystem in farming and how it helps you in your field
 What is production subsystem and how is it important in farming
 What is processing subsystem and how is it important in farming
 What is marketing subsystem and how is it important in farming

ABSTRACT

This chapter aims at answering the interview of what agribusiness subsystem

actually is and how it helps a farmer in his farming, what the characteristics of a system are, and
why a systems perspective is useful when dealing with development and operation of farming.
Furthermore, different ways of classifying agribusiness subsystems are pre-based on
characteristics given by the systems perspective. The terminology related to systems is presented,
and different hierarchical levels and parts of the agribusiness subsystem are described. As a
conclusion the relevance of a life-cycle perspective on agribusiness subsystems is elaborated
upon.
