2 BILECTRIC DESALTER PROCESS DESCRIPTION

®
The Bilectric design utilizes horizontal flow of the oil/water emulsion, distributed equally through
two parallel high intensity electrical fields. The two fields are created by three parallel horizontal
electrode grids, of which one, two or three are energized by separate high voltage AC
reactor/transformer power units. Multiple vertical, dual plated, horizontal flow distributor risers
provide equal flow between and through the electrical grids (Figure 1).

®
The Bilectric Desalter permits the maximum throughput; flexibility and reliability for any given
vessel size, with a handling capacity for a wide range of crude oil gravities and viscosities.
®
Bilectric Desalters built new or as a retrofit of older Desalters have established an enviable
®
track record in Refineries all over the world. The Cameron Bilectric unit is designed from
considerable research and many years of operational experience, to achieve more efficient
utilization of the interior space within the pressure vessel.
