Statement of Purpose

My name is Prashans, and I am a BBA LLB Hons student of University of mumbai law
academy(formerly known as university national law school). I would like to apply for the
summer internship position at VIDHI INTERNATIONAL LAW COMMISSION in
Geneva in May 2019 which I heard from my close friend, Rajnish. The position is an
excellent match with my interests, education, and career envisage. BBA LLB program at
UMLA has given me broad vision in understanding global affairs, and the work in VIDHI
INTERNATIONAL will serve as a great opportunity to strengthen my research skills and
in particular, to improve my understanding of regional issues from the geopolitical
perspective.

I am very interested in international affairs, particularly involving developing counties

and legal issues. I am from north west of india,Jaipur, and I’m native to hindi and my
home environment enabled me to have a better command in english. I believe that my
bilingual background will enable me to be valuable to the vidhi.

Due to a strong interest in international affairs, I decided to emphasise on public

international law, which in turn can prepare me for a professional career in an
international law organization. To broaden my knowledge about other countries, I have
taken diverse international guest lectures, which trained me in Public International law.
For example, lecture of V.N. Krishna Memon lecture by Shri Pranab Mukherjee enabled
me to explore the process of urbanization, urban policy, and local governance in
developing countries, ranging from Africa, Asia, and America. This lecture also sparked
my interests of legal issues in developing countries in Asia, such as migration and refugee
laws.

India is developing at a great pace and as well as legal perspective such as shown by
various decisions of supreme court on decriminalisation of gay sex or on adultery or the
decision of Supreme Court saying live streaming of court proceedings will bring
transparency. This internship will help me to better understand all legal aspects that are
needed for newly transforming society from international legal views.

I am studying law in UMLA, a preeminent institution with a free academic atmosphere.

During my two years of graduate study, I developed a strong interest in international
economic organizations and human rights law. The graduate study at UMLA gave me a
deep understanding of international economic law and prepared me for leadership and
academic analysis responsibilities. My academic training provided me knowledge in
international law and politics. I am especially interested in WTO law and UN law.

I have no doubt that this internship will provide an invaluable opportunity for me to
strengthen my research on international affairs, and I’m confident that my bilingual skills,
research ability, writing skills and strong understanding of international system qualified
me for this position. Thank you for your consideration and your time! I look forward to
hearing from you.
I am looking forward to join this internship programs and becoming an asset for
THINK INDIA.
Best regards,
Prashans
