Job Description

Job Title: Application Support analyst Department: ICT

Responsible to: IT Manager Number of people directly managed: 0

Main purpose of the job:

Develop, integrate, configure and support the business applications and database infrastructure
upon which the business relies, within agreed standards.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

· Implement new business application software, capturing end user requirements and
configuring, testing and integrating as necessary.
· Implement new releases of existing business application software, capturing end user
requirements and configuring, testing and integrating as necessary.
· Provide 2nd line support for mission critical business applications.
· Produce specifications of business requirements to a level that enables effective delivery
of agreed changes.
· Produce specifications and designs for information systems and their components to
meet defined business needs, retaining compatibility with enterprise and solution
architectures.
· Specify, design and maintain mechanisms for storage and access to both structured and
unstructured information, in support of business information needs.
· Design, create, test and document new and amended SQL, packages and programs
from supplied specifications in accordance with agreed standards.
· Develop, implement and report the findings of suitable test schedules to measure and
improve the quality of ICT solutions being deployed, to ensure that new and amended
systems, configurations, packages, or services, together with any interfaces, perform as
specified.
· Integrate and test components and/or subsystems and their interfaces in order to create
operational services.
· Transfer application knowledge and associated documentation to the ICT service desk to
facilitate robust service support for new and upgraded ICT solutions.
· Facilitate productive relationships with and between key stakeholders, during the
Planning management and implementation of business change.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
· Ensure that project and business application support documentation is maintained.

· Coordinate the work of suppliers, contractors and HHL colleagues during the
development, testing and implemenatation of new or upgraded business modules or
solutions.

· Mobilise and co-ordinate and monitor the efforts of suppliers and contractors in dealing
with business application problems referred to second line support.

· Support and maintain the database infrastructure which underpins the Company’s
business applications and enterprise reporting requirements.

· Provide estimates for scope of works and associated resourcing requirements for project
planning planning purposes.

· Identify project related risks and escalate project issues in a timely manner

· Follow the agreed architecture, design patterns and the software development
methodology.

· Develop and deliver programs as per the requirements and coding guidelines with
minimal supervision, & within the budget and timeframe.

Working Environment/Physical Challenges (If appropriate describe to what degree the job

The job involves frequent use of a keyboard and occasional travel between HHL sites and third
party sites in support of project work.

The role is responsible for:

Ensuring the availability and reliability of mission critical business applications and database
infrastructure which support enterprise application integration reporting.

Developing and maintaining suitable documentation for applications, data structure and
integration facilities and services.
