Statement of Suitability

Communication is all about lines – those that have words as well as those that use artworks – and this
means a more than average level of comfort with language and relevant computer software.

From the towers of the blogosphere to the miniaturization of the twitter-verse, from understanding
CorelDraw and Photoshop to conceptualizing with pen and ink, from productively interacting for media
planning to creating briefs for optimized output… I have done it all in the past 5 years. Before stepping
into corporate communications, I promoted life-saving and other molecules to the doctors – indicating
that verbal communication has been an intrinsic part of my career for almost 24 years! Besides all this, I
have written poetry – a few published and a few hundred still in the realms of a sporadic spread to
friends on my social networking pages or my weblog (www.passey.info).

Words have always fascinated me and the latter part of the eighties saw me conceive the idea for ‘Tip-
Toe’, a German Remedies zonal monthly cyclostyled effort that paved the way to a national in-house
magazine a few months later. During my tenure at PT Education, I wrote for their in-house student
magazine ‘Prep Talk’ as well as a number of motivational articles for students that were published in
various publications. Now in BIFM, I have been bringing out ‘The Learner’ – a creative effort published as
a digital magazine.

If suitability is a reflection of negotiation triumphs, then almost all the media deals done for PT Education
as well as for the BLB Group have seen me finalise rates that couldn’t possibly have been lower. These
past 5 years have also seen me coordinate with ad agencies, release agents, PR agencies and the in-
house design team for all sorts of creative collaterals that an education provider may desire. My
responsibilities have included writing punch-lines, copy, design concepts, press releases, sales-oriented
mailers, and even web-related artworks like web-banners and e-mailers. Interestingly, I also did intensive
creative interaction with the AV-team while getting the corporate film and the corporate presentation
made for PT.

My career grid has relocated from pharmaceutical sales to communicating the essence of effective
coaching and then to simplifying finance fundamentals for potential finance wizards… entirely different
areas that required a high degree of resilience as well as steep learning graphs. Therefore, I see the
opportunity to encapsulate your organisation and its concerns as one more step that will, no doubt,
give my creative instincts great joy!
