LESSON 7

After we discuss the last lesson, let’s now discuss the Genius of the
keyboard, First Letter Combination: Vowel I and Initial N, and Using I for final
Y. Be sure to do the activity and the self check for you to know if you
understand the lesson well.

THE GENIUS OF THE KEYBOARD

You will notice that the keyboard does not have all the letters of
alphabet. The genius of the machine shorthand keyboard is that is so
arranged that it permits to write all the vowels and consonant sounds
through the masterful use of letter combinations to represent these letters
which are messing. The writing of letter combination allows you to keep your
fingers close to home row position for complete control of all speed levels
during dictation.

FIRST LETTER COMBINATION: Vowel I and Initial N

Vowel I is represented by letter combination EU. Write I by depressing

vowels E and U with the right thumb EU appears at the center of the paper
tape.
Initial N is represented by letter combination TPH. Write initial N by
depressing the 3 keys TPH together by the left ring, middle and index finger.

USING I FOR FINAL Y

Y at the end of a word that sounds I will be written as I like in try and
city which will be written as tri and siti. Practice the following exercises on
letter Y at the end of the word.

Try T R EU Try the pie.
