DEUTA REDBOX multi-functional recorders optimally adapt to any vehicle

environment. The sophisticated REDBOX concept offers travel data recording
and innovative service and evaluation options – compact and applicable

Platform concept offers a variety of options

With REDBOX, DEUTA relies on a single platform that allows many
recorder variants. The core of the device, consisting of communica-
tion structure, microprocessor and memory module,
is the stable base for all multi-functional recorders.
DEUTA consistently implements the high technological standards of
its products in patented solutions; for example the speed calculation
algorithm of the REDBOX is based on a Kalman filter and submitted
for patent. With the REDBOX family, DEUTA continues its "everything
from one source" strategy. DEUTA manufactures, develops, equips,
qualifies and offers worldwide support for all multi-functional recorder
related concerns.

Worldwide service
Thanks to the Web interface, the REDBOX recorders offer completely
new service opportunities. You can check the device status or fill
level of the data storage at any time. Diagnostic messages and
software versions as well as language settings are available through
the Web interface. Due to the Web browser the adjustments to
different operating systems is not necessary.

Everything in view
With the ADS 4 evaluation software you graph and tabulate the
recorded travel data. Since the travel data storage reconstructs the
data in any resolution, you can more easily evaluate events, espe-
cially at a high resolution of the recorded travel data.

DEUTA-WERKE developed the first incident recorder in 1925,
and to this day the long-term availability of our travel data
recorders, in addition to technical features, is a principle crite-

REDBOX with web interface

The REDBOX Web interface allows accessing your REDBOX anywhere in the
world via W-LAN. The Web interface works with a standard Web browser on
different operating systems and is convenient and easy to use. If your vehicle is
not yet equipped with W-LAN, you can use the Ethernet interface of your
REDBOX. In combination with a laptop this allows access to all service pages.

A small selection of access options:

• Checking the device status, such as the fill level of the data store or
the communication status
• Setting of parameters, such as device parameters and input options
for vehicle number

REDBOXlog
The DEUTA REDBOXlog is the innovative data logger for standard rail
vehicles. Available as box or 19“ plug-in it integrates perfectly into the ATP
automatic train protection. Thanks to its integrated profibus it works as a
cross-border ETCS juridical recorder. The travel data are read according to
CENELEC subset 027 as part of the interoperable train protection system.

REDBOXflex view+
Integral travel data evaluation also includes the video data analysis. The
DEUTA REDBOXflex view+ records video data from the front camera and
the travel data in parallel. Depending on the configuration, the data is
stored to the integrated CompactFlash card or to a separate removable
storage medium.

The DEUTA REDBOXflex view+ is characterised by its rail-specific

design. The implemented single board concept is perfectly suited
for resisting strong vibration and shock.

Modern network technology melds with the classic recording of

vehicle signals, e.g.: digital inputs and outputs, IBIS vehicle bus,
serial interfaces and much more. Necessary markers are con-
trolled by the DEUTA REDBOXflex view+.

Not only the video and audio data are stored to the storage
medium, but also important additional information such as time,
distance, speed, driving direction, etc. This enables a basic analy-
sis of the data material.

The advanced search and filter functions of the ADS 4 evaluation

software are used to make a detailed graphical and tabular analy-
sis of the data. It clearly and reliably reconstructs and evaluates
cases of damage and events with the help of the DEUTA
REDBOXflex view+.

REDBOXtop
In the basic version, DEUTA REDBOXtop combines the diversity of the
REDBOXflex “all-in-one recorder“ and the PMU protected travel data
storage in a 19” body.

If required, you can combine the REDBOXtop and the REDBOX-

flex as a hybrid recorder with video data storage. The parallel
recording of video and travel data facilitates the reconstruction of
event cases.

The Safe+ version of the REDBOXtop contains additional security

functions, such as monitoring the maximum and limit speed,
roll-back protection and the speed output. Another feature is the
dead man’s handle.

SAFE+ The safety m

The Safe+ module assumes safety functions for the requirement levels SIL 2 to
SIL 4, thus expanding the safety-related application field of the DEUTA
REDBOX family.

The two-channel fail-safe structure forms the basis of the

functional and technical safety of the Safe+ module.

The Safe+ module was developed according to the standards EN

50126, EN 50128, EN 50129 and EN 50155 and controls the
following functions:

• Drivers Safety Device - DSD

• Standstill detection
• Rollback protection
• Monitoring of maximum speed
• Limit speed monitoring
• Speed signals

The Safe+ concept permits great flexibility in the configuration,

parameterization and in the application, e.g. as Time-Time or

Overview of the Safe+ functions:

Drivers Safety Device – DSD

This DSD function of the Safe+ stops a tractive vehicle through
forced braking should the locomotive driver become incapacitated
during the journey.

Monitors the limit and maximum speed

The Safe+ uses this function to continuously check the current speed
and to check for compliance with a defined limit speed (Vactual </-
Vlimit). When exceeded, the status of the corresponding output
(relay) is changed.

In addition, the maximum speed is also monitored.

If the maximum speed is exceeded, forced braking of the vehicle
occurs until the speed drops below the maximum speed (intermittent
forced braking).

Protects from unintentional rolling

Prevents the unintentional movement of the vehicle for required
standstill through forced braking.

Detects a standstill of the train

Uses a signal to report that the train is no longer moving discernibly.

Supplies the speed

Safe+ uses an analogue signal of 4 - 20 mA which measures the
vehicle speed and supplies it to secure systems.

REDBOXflex safe+
REDBOXflex safe+ is the combination of a REDBOXflex recorder with a
Safe+ module. The advantages of the REDBOXflex recorder and the safety
of the Safe+ functions are available in a compact slot:

Travel data recording: All possibilities of the DEUTA REDBOX-

can be used including storage to the protected PMU data
memory.

Bus communication: It is possible to implement the known

communication buses such as MVB, Profibus or CAN separately
or in combination. The secure communication with the Safe+
module expands the flexibility of the configuration.

Direct signals: The connection to the speed and radar sensors

permits the calculation of the vehicle speed. Different input or
output signals can be configured alternatively.
