For Part 1 of the procedure , I should :

1. Complete and record the prices of items chosen.

2. Compare and contrast the prices of items chosen.

3. Suggest and discuss possible reasons for an item that has a large price difference.

For Part 2 of the procedure , I should :

1. State and discuss reasons for purchasing ingredients from a shop.

2. Calculate price index and its composite index of year 2010 based on year 2009.

3. Suggest a suitable selling price of a butter cake in year 2010 and its reasons.

4. Determine appropriate capacity of air-conditioner required for school͛s library.

For Part 3 of the procedure , I should :

1. Calculate composite index from an estimated budget sheet given.

2. Obtain information on two different types of index number.

£ che expenditure of a project in year 2010 increases from year 2009 due to inflation. In
this situation the inflation occur maybe is caused by cost push. che price of raw material
of a product increase and this result in the increase of price of an output or a product.

(c) Answer :

Composite index for 2010 based on 2009 = 111.625

Composite index for 2011 based on 2010 = 111.625

  IІІ/IЅЎ x 100

= IІЅ/IЅЎ x IІІ

£ IІІ/IЅЎ = IІЅ/IЅЎ x IІІ/IІЅ x 1/100

= 111.625 x 111.625 x 1/100

= 124.60

£ che expenditure of a project in year 2010 from the budget sheet shows an
increase from year 2009. chis is because the price of raw material to make food
increase and this result in the increase of that particular expenditure. che price of
transportation also increase maybe because of the increase of wages of the
workers. Hence, my conjecture was right.

After doing research, answering questions, doing graphs and some problem
solving, I saw the usage of statistics is important in our daily life. It is not just
widely used in markets but also in interpreting the condition of the surrounding like
the air or the water. Especially in conducting an air-pollution survey. Statistics is a
daily life necessities. Without it, surveys cannot be conducted, the stock market
