Company Overview

History
As a pioneer in the global BPO industry, it started as a small local
company known as Ambergris Solutions in 2001, with only 50 seats. Now, as an
important part of TELUS International, a global company that enables customer
experience innovation through spirited teamwork, agile thinking, and a caring culture
that puts customers first. Ambergris was rebranded to TELUS International
Philippines in 2007. Today, TELUS International Philippines has five sites and over
12,000 proud team members delivering exceptional customer service to our clients
around the world. Its parent, TELUS, is Canada’s fastest-growing national
telecommunications company with millions of its own customer connections.

As with TELUS International University at present, TIU offers TIP team

members who did not finish college the opportunity to get a college degree. It has
partnered with the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) and the SM Group’s
educational institution Asia Pacific College (APC) to implement the program. Under
the program, faculty members of the two schools conduct classes at Telus units in
Araneta Center and Market Market. Introduced five years ago, the TIU was tasked
to address the need of the company to deploy more college graduates. In the past
five years, Rosenthal said there was a decline of college graduates applying in the
company.

System Overview

A library is regarded as the brain of any institute; many of them understand the
importance of the library in its growth with the users, which in our case are made up
primarily of students, as the main beneficiary. LMS supports the general requirement of
the library like acquisition, cataloguing and, circulation.

The Library Information System is responsible for adding and recording library
information resources inside the TIU Library. It will allow librarians and library users to
maximize their time more efficiently. In addition, the Library System will give detailed
information about the students, staff and books and track how many books are currently
available in the library and the books that are issued to the students.

System Goals and Objects

● Only basic knowledge of computers is required for operation of Library Management

System as it has a user-friendly application interface.
● Staff, as well as student record, is maintained
● Keeps record of suppliers and binders.
● Add, update, search and view library items.
● Students can also check the availability status of a particular book on the system.

Scope and Limitations

The Scope of this system would be recording and adding all details of the books of the
TIU library, a repository of available books that can be borrowed. It also can be used by the
admin and the students but with different interfaces. In addition, it would allow the registration of
new accounts and administrators. The limitations include imposing certain fees for late and
unreturned books. And due to time constraints, report generation will not be included.

Assumptions

● This application is used to convert the manual library process into a repository of data in
the TIU Library.
● Customized data will be used in this application.
● A user does not have right to enter information about articles.

III. ANALYSIS OF THE EXISTING SYSTEM

Upon checking, TIU currently has no available system and books are not yet logged and
recorded. The aim of this system is to consolidate the data and provide users with access and
availability of the said book of the library itself.

IV. DESIGN OF THE PROPOSED SYSTEM

System Features and Functionalities

FEATURES FUNCTIONS
Admin and student Login Can have an authorized login ID and
password for both librarian and student.
User friendly Interface Can search for book, or any type of book
from the home page.
Search Easy search for any book.
Issue and return Includes a page to view logs of issued and
returned books.
