The Birthday represents only twenty percent of the Life Path. Express the relative strengths of the
elements by the relative amount of space devoted to them. The Birthday sub-focus, then, should
be only about one-fifth as long as the Life Path focus. In this step, express the keywords of the sub-
focus, possibly with some slight elaboration.

keywords, read the central focus of the Life Path found in CHART: THE LIFE PATH. These energies are
operating, but in a much reduced manner, since the energies are being applied here to the Birthday

determine the aspects relative to the Life Path because that harmony or discord will modify the Life
Path characteristics and negative expression expressed in Steps 6 and 7.

EXPRESS THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE LIFE PATH. Modify the Life Path characteristics based on the
aspects found in Step 5.

STEP 7
EXPRESS THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE BIRTHDAY. Read the characteristics of the Birthday in
CHART: THE BIRTHDAY.
Summarize these traits in the delineation. The relative strength would be expressed by having the
Birthday traits about one-fifth as long as the Life Path traits. Express the harmony or discord of the
Life Path/Birthday aspect.

DISCUSS THE NEGATIVE EXPRESSION OF THE LIFE PATH.
The negative expression is determined, to a strong extent, by the free will and the environment, but
it is also related to the aspects the Life Path makes with the Expression and the Soul Urge. It's
occasionally possible, just from the numbers, to determine if a person will tend to express negatively
(particularly in the special cases discussed in Chapter 9). It is important, however, to warn the
subject of the potential problems inherent in the negative expression.

EXPRESS THE ABILITIES OF THE EXPRESSION.
The abilities remain the same irrespective of the other core elements.

STEP 10
EXPRESS THE HARMONY OR DISCORD OF THE LIFE PATH/ EXPRESSION ASPECT.

EXPRESS THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE LIFE PATH/EX- PRESSION COMBINATION.

STEP 12
DETERMINE THE HARMONY OR DISCORD OF THE EXPRESSION/LIFE PATH AND THE EXPRESSION/

The harmony or discord of the aspect relative to the Expression will modify the Expression positive
attitudes and negative attitudes expressed in Steps 13 and 14.
