TITLE:
“TO CONVERT PROJECTION OF A MAP USING ARCGIS”.
INTRODUCTION:
Map projection is the projection of an area on the globe onto a flat paper. In GIS this
holds high importance as in order to work with a map the coordinate system as well as the
map projection must be the same. There are over 4000 coordinate systems in the ArcGIS
platform, so it is likely that you can find one to match your data. It is possible to project
vector data on-the-fly by setting a view's projection property
OBJECTIVE:
The objective of this lab how to learn how to convert projection of a map layer in ArcGIS.
PROCEDURE:
 Firstly, open ArcGIS software.
 Now open the arc toolbox.
 Now Click on DATA MANAGEMENT TOOL => PROJECTION AND TRANSFORMATION
=> PROJECT
 Then the input table add the shapefile or the data file which you want to convert.
 Choose the output location and file name.
 Choose output coordinate system.
 Press ok.
 Take snapshot using snipping tool.

Results:
The projection of map has been converted.
Comments:
We have learned the use of ArcGIS to convert map projection of a shapefile. . You can use this
utility to change the coordinate system of your shapefiles, including projections and datums.
