Box Technique to Find Square Root

Try this question with the box technique.

Example 1.
a) √5184 =
5184
Step 1: look at the last digit of the number. Its 4 in this case.
5184
Step 2: compare the last digit with the table in column (x). Which number does
it correspond to? 4 corresponds to 2 and 8.
____ 2 & 8
Step 3: Discard the last two digits of 5184. You will be left with 51. Compare
51 to see which number is closest to 51 but not more than 51.
The closest number on the table to 51 is 49. Square root 49 is 7.
Step 4: multiply the new number with one number higher than that.
7 x 8 = 56
51 is lesser than 56, so choose number 2 from Step 2.
Answer = the number 7 is written first, followed by number 2 = 72
