Management:
Management is a specialized form of management that is
concerned with the applicationof engineering principles to
successfully lead engineering or technical personnel and projects
.
The engineering management can also be defined as a career
That brings together the technological problem solving savvy of
engineering and the organizational, administrative, and planning
abilities of management in order to oversee complex enterprises
from conception to completion

Engineering management typically require training and

experience in both general management and the specific
engineering diciplines that will be used by the engineering team
to be managed

The successful engineering manager must have the skills

necessary to coach mentor and motivate technical professionals
which are often very different from those that are required for
individuals in other fields.
Progect management :
Project management is the practice of initiating, planning,
executing, controlling, and closing the work of a team to achieve
specific goals and meet specific success criteria at the specified
time. A project is a temporary endeavor designed to produce a
unique product, service or result with a defined beginning and end
(usually time-constrained, and often constrained by funding or
staffing) undertaken to meet unique goals and objectives,

The progect life cycle .

The US project management insititute has adopted the project
life cycle proposed who divided projects into four phase or
stages

1- Feasibility stage : includes the development of the project

in the formal drafting of feasibility studies and strategic
design

2- Planning & design stage : including all basic designs and

calculate all of the cost and schedule of the project and the
drafting of terms of the contracts the conditions and the
detailed plans.

3- Production:consisting of execuation procurement for civil

work s, installations and tests

4- Turning over : this includes ending of construction

,operation final inspection , and maintenance period
Features of engineering projects:
Engineering project have inherent features that make them
highly complicated enterprises. These features are charecterised
by high levels of complexity .uncertainly and uniqueness and
include:

1-complexity created by the fragmentation of the organizational

mechanism by which most projects are delivered.
2-complexity of the technology involved in the construction of
modern buldings.
3-logistical complexity create by the locational aspects of
projects
4-uncertainly created by exposure to the extremes of the
weather.
5-uniqueness of each project: the project organisation and the
participlants vary .

Project management consist of the following element:

1-scheduling
2-budget
3-resources
4-monitor progress
5-reports
