ABSTRACT

The decline and diminish of traditional cultural landscape, changing land use, and the
transformation of these landscapes into urban landscapes has become a topic of discussion in
many recent international scientific conferences and workshops. The changes are seen as
threats that could lead to vanishing diversity, unity and identity of traditional landscape.

Hence, this creative final project at Semester Six (06) exhibits a treatment design, namely,
Restoring and Resuscitating the Cultural Landscape of Kg Wang Besar, Perlis. The
project will follow guidelines established by the National Park Service (NPS) in
"Preservation Brief 36: Protecting Cultural Landscapes" for use in the analysis and
documentation of cultural landscapes. This creative project will additionally explore the using
of ‘ecological sustainability approach’ for restoring and resuscitating a landscape.

The terminology of ‘ecological design approaches’ is to seek forward thinking or ideas


utilizing ecological technologies and creative or innovative design to solve a few of
environmental issues in site study.

The goal of this creative final project is to create a Cultural Landscape Master Plan and
proposes treatment strategies for the restoring and resuscitating the cultural landscape of Kg
Wang Besar, Perlis that enhance the traditional Malay village livelihood.
