a = 0 BAC 8328 Brown, or a = 1 BAC 703 Grey, or a = 2 FedStd 595 36118 Grey
A General
1.1 The FV-1050 is a display control panel used in conjunction with the FV-0580 or FV-0581 Video Switcher Unit
as part of the “CabinVu 123” Cabin Security System
1.2 The design is intended primarily to satisfy the internal requirement for a monitor/switcher system aboard a
Boeing 737. The unit is, however, to be designed in such a way that it may be applicable to a wider range of
aircraft.
1.3 The FV-1050 is designed to be fitted in the cockpit controller panel of a commercial aircraft.
1.4 The panel is used without change, to support any number of camera inputs.
1.5 There are no “active” electronic components in the design.
B Electrical Specification
2.0.1 Control
2.0.2 The unit has the following controls on the front face
2.0.3 ON/OFF/Standby 3 position toggle switch, which enables and disables the monitor, and also switches system
power OFF. These contacts are rated at 125mA
2.0.4 10 kohm Contrast rotary control
2.0.5 10 kohm Brightness rotary control
2.0.6 Camera Selector momentary toggle switch.
2.1.1 Lightplate
2.1.2 The front panel switches are fitted behind a "Lightplate" which gives trans-illumination through the knobs,
around the panel, and through the lettering, allowing the switches to be identified in a darkened cockpit.
2.1.3 Power for the lightplate is provided from a 5V ac source external to the unit. No power conditioning is provided
on this input.
2.1.4 Connection is made through a Mil-C-38999 connector

C Mechanical Specification
3.0.1 The design is intended primarily to satisfy the requirement for a monitor to display images from cameras
mounted on a Boeing 737 aircraft (located centre console on the 5.5” Dzus rails). The unit is, however, to be
designed in such a way that it may be applicable to a wider range of aircraft.
3.0.2 Overall Dimensions of the Box 146mm x 28.5mm x 71.2mm
3.0.3 Maximum weight 250g.
3.0.4 Materials used
Box 1.2mm Al Alloy sheet BSEN 485:4303H14/5251H22

3.0.5 Finishes Alocrom to Def Stan 03-18
3.0.6 Paint to BAC703 – Front plate and lightplate only
3.0.7 The Lightplate is removable and replaceable, and is connected to the electronic via a 2 pin molex connector.
E Airworthiness
5.1 The Unit is designed to operate on large commercial aircraft, and will therefore comply with the following:
5.2 CS-25, specifically 1301, 1309, X1315, 1322, 1353, 1357, X1360, 1381, 1431.
5.3 ED-14E\RTCA DO160D, for instrument panel mounted equipment
F EMI/Environmental Qualification
OPERATION
General
A three position switch will condition the system to complete power ON, to a STAND BY state or to OFF.
With POWER ON, Camera views may be selected by depressing the camera momentary selector switch, each press
will sequentially select the next available camera view, up or down.
The Brightness and Contrast Pots control the Monitor(s) optimum viewing display conditions.
General
1 Initial Requirements
The following are required:
STT Test Lead with all CabinVu 123 components i.e.(FV-0580 or FV-0581, FV-0410 and FV-1050).
Digital Multimeter
2 Lightplate Checks
2.1 Adjust DC power supply and apply 5V to pin 10 (+ve) and 0V to pin 11 (-ve) and switch ON. Note that the
lightplate illuminates, and that no white light escapes around the knobs.
2.2 Note current drawn, which shall be less than 0.75A.
2.3 Slowly reduce the applied voltage. Note that the lightplate illumination diminishes.
2.4 Switch OFF 5V supply.
3 Mechanical Checks
3.1 Inspect the Unit for any damage, or deterioration in the paintwork.
3.2 Check that all knobs are tight and secure..
3.3 Check that all knobs move freely, and that the pointers are well balanced and point accurately to their respective
indications.
3.4 Check that the Camera Select Channel switch UP or Down can be toggled.
3.5 To ascertain correct operation of contacts of the ON/STBY/OFF Switch; connect an ohmmeter across Pins 4
and 1 and Pin 2 and 1 in turn at the rear connector, operate the switch and check for continuity (~0.1Ω) in the
ON position and infinity (>10MΩ) in the OFF position. Also in the STBY position, Pin 1 and 4 should read
continuity (~0.1Ω)..
Fault Isolation
The following details in Fault diagnosis of the FV-1050 are assuming that all other components and external
wiring of the system is known to be serviceable.
DISASSEMBLY
All threads have been secured using a locking adhesive where necessary on initial assembly and therefore will
require careful removal to avoid damage to threaded components.
Observe ESD Protection requirements
To assist in the disassembly of this unit refer to the IPL Detailed Parts .
CLEANING
The FV-1050 should be cleaned externally using cleaning solvents or solutions normally used by the airline company.
Care should be taken when cleaning so as not to allow the cleaning solution to contaminate the pin contacts of any
connectors.
Do not allow dirt to be ingested into the unit.
CHECKS
REPAIR
Repair of this unit should only be carried out by an approved workshop facility.
Should the following diagnosis and repairs not resolve any particular problem the unit should be returned to the
original manufacturer.
Before any component parts are substituted the internal connectors and wiring must be thoroughly checked for
damage, disconnection or chaffing which could cause an “open” or “short” circuit.
STORAGE
All units shall be stored in the protective packing in which they are supplied.
Before any unit enters service and is fitted to an aircraft a functional test should be carried out.
Torque settings
All fixing screws and nuts are to be tightened to the follows torques;
• 4-40UNC Screws to 0.51NM with no liquid locking or 0.38NM with a liquid locking adhesive.
