ARCHITECTURE

Falling Water, Frank Lloyd Wright

Nature - nature of materials or “nature” of a plan, sentiment, or tool. Inherent principle

Tradition - original;tradition from architecture is from classical architecture; TRUTH is a divinity
in architecture. Generic principle
Ornament - integral element of architect; one of the thing not on it; well-conceived
Organic - entity; part to whole as whole is to part.Entity as integral. Symbiotic relationship of
exterior and interior
Form follows Function - merely building is not architecture;the platform upon which architectural
form rests;function has to be considered to make form flourish the new reality (continual
becoming)
Romance - quality; actuality is the intrinsic romance of human creation; romance is the humane
expression of form instead of devising inanimate facades
Spirit - grows upward from within and outwards
Third Dimension - depth
Space - continual becoming; invisible fountain from which all rhythms flow to which they must
pass
