OBJECTIVE

Identify unique and interesting uses of wireless and network communications.

INTRODUCTION

Chapter 1 listed a wide range of applications for wireless and communications. The categories
given are broad and general. Yet there are an amazing number of unusual and special
applications not listed. Your assignment here is to identify at least three new or different
applications for wireless and wired networking not given in the text. You may do this from
general knowledge, asking others, researching magazines, or by any other means. One or more of
these should come from doing Internet searches.

REQUIRED
PC with Internet access.

PROCEDURE
1. Identify unique and special wireless applications.
List at least three and describe briefly, in a sentence or two, the purpose and benefit of
each.
2. Identify unique and special wired networking applications.
List at least three and describe briefly in a sentence or two the purpose and benefit of
each.
3. Research the 5G Technology on Mobile Communications and answer the following
questions:
a. What will the emerging 5G standard offer?
b. What will be the main differences and improvements from its predecessors, 3G
and 4G?
c. Will 5G be compatible with 4G?
DELIVERABLE
Write your answers in a short bond paper. It must be handwritten. Submit your work in a
short brown envelope. Deadline of submission is on January 23 at 7PM.
